The Foresters Arms first opened in the early 1850's under the name of 'The Rose and Crown', in the heart of Shevington Moor. In 1861, the landlord John Davenport, was noted on the census to be a tailor as well as a beer seller. Another record of a landlord was in 1901, a gentleman known as Thomas Sheffield was recorded to be a collier and beer seller.
Throughout the years the Foresters arms has changed hands and names multiple times, most recently it was known as the Silver Tally until last year. In the past year, the pub has been returned to its former glory, being renamed the Foresters Arms once again and undergoing a major refurb, becoming a country pub serving traditional fayre.

Services
Went as it came up on a search for nearby dog friendly pubs, but this will definitely become a regular eating place in future. Our family of 7 were given a friendly, warm welcome by landlord and staff and our chihuahua was made very welcome and given a little bowl of meat treats and water. Food was fabulous- fresh, hot, delicious and beautifully presented.
If you require a booking within a few hours please call the pub to check availability on 01257 472733 between 2 - 9.30pm daily. You can also make bookings in advance via telephone if you prefer. Please note this is only a REQUEST & not confirmed until a member of staff has been in contact with you and confirmed.

Had a superb meal for a friends 50th. Absolutely fabulous night. We dropped some balloons earlier and staff kindly set the table with them. Staff were great and kindly brought out our cake (we were all too full… to sample) 3 courses for £16. What a fantastic bargain. All of the party was amazed at the quality and we all left with food coma :) definitely a🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟Thankyou, we will be back again soon.

I've heard great things. They were packed when we got there. We just got our first real snow so there were too many flatlanders to go. Huge line. I'm sure it was worth the wait but our 4 year old was starving! We went to placerville for lunch instead but I cannot wait to go here. Staff was very friendly and SUPER BUSY.

The Forrester Pub & Grill has a bit of everything from American classics such as Burgers, Steaks and Prime Rib to German classics such as Wienershcnitzel. I am happy to have tried their German dishes. The Hungarian Goulosh which consists of Serloin Pork Stew. The meat was so tender and the seasoning just right. I expected a little bitterness which was their for that geographical taste palette.
The others in my party reported their meals and sandwiches are great tasting. I will have to give The Forrester Pub & Grill a 4 Stars rating. Although our wait staff very kind and on our drink refills, this

We came here after a long day of picking and chopping apples, not wanting to make our own dinner. I really didn't know what to expect, but I was very happy with what we ordered.
The service was fast and friendly, even being pretty busy. We ordered the Ribeye; the meat was tender, with not too much fat, and most importantly it wasn't too greasy like many pubs/bar restaurants. The mashed potatoes and gravy was good, as were the fresh chopped veggies.
Our server checked in on us in regular intervals, not too often, and not leaving us waiting or wondering. The pricing wasn't bad, certainly not cheap

We asked for a dinner recommendation while we were visiting Placerville and a local recommend this spot to us! Apparently this is where all the locals go. The prices were reasonable. The food was deliciously. Service was excellent. We ordered the fries appetizer, beef stroganoff, and their pork German dish. This place is known for their German dishes, very large portions.

The mashed potatoes were watered down but the burger was ok. Oddly enough they offer a buffalo meat burger but their Angus beef patty was less to be desired. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't great. We had heard that they had a pool table and pinball machines. All I found was the pool table. I would be wary of the condiments. Our ketchup was thin and runny so I grabbed one from another table. It seemed to be fine. Our waitress was really friendly and we were treated well.
