Michael Smith was born in Blackburn, Lancashire. He began his music education on the electric guitar after hearing the group Led Zeppelin. Later, Michael discovered the classical guitar, bass, banjo and mandolin and began his studies with some of the UK's most renowned musicians.
After achieving critical acclaim as a musician and to further his passion for music, Michael set up Blackburn Guitar Lessons in his hometown in the early 1990s, where he went on to provide expert tuition to thousands of guitar players of all ages and experiences.Widely regarded as one of the best music tutors in the UK, Michael Smith continues to teach new students to this day.

I am a teacher of basically all electric and acoustic guitar styles to people of any ability and age. I have been playing the Bass for over 15 years and have successfully taught up to grade 8. Bass is a great instrument to begin learning whatever your age. The foundational skills for playing bass are not too complex and can be mastered in a very short period of time. However, like a lot of things in life, getting fairly good takes longer!.
I am Mick Smith, Blackburn's only banjo teacher, with around 10 years of experience teaching all ages and abilities. My method of teaching is based around creating a friendly, non-intimidating & patient environment for you; the student. I try my best to gauge each and every student's personal learning style and needs, and I always focus on positive encouragement as well as tips and techniques.

Use of our facilities, including drum machine, internet, guitar processors, amps, hundreds of backing tracks and more. Just bring your guitar/instrument or if you prefer I have an electric guitar and other instruments in the studio you may use.
