We are a fully equipped and dedicated Pilates studio offering sessions under experienced tuition. The studio is a spacious, friendly and calm environment situated on Poundbury's Buttermarket Square near to Dorchester and Weymouth. We are committed professionals who strive to raise your well-being through high quality personalised teaching that matches your fitness level and goals.

We believe everyone can benefit from regular practice of Pilates. Our sessions are the smallest in Dorset with no more than five people in a matwork and four to a studio session allowing for plenty of individual attention and maximum benefit from your Pilates practice.
Services
I first experienced the benefits of Pilates during a busy career as a primary teacher. I have always been very active enjoying keeping fit and an outdoor lifestyle, and felt Pilates had something more to offer. In 2010, I qualified as a matwork teacher after completing a yearlong study with the Pilates Foundation.
Pilates is a mind-body exercise system which evolved from the principles of the late Joseph Pilates in 1920s. Today, Pilates continues to grow in popularity and is renowned for its many health benefits as well as a total body conditioning system.

Pilates works differently from other forms of exercise in that it develops the body in an even way addressing underlying structural and muscular imbalances which can create on-going pain and difficulty with movement.Regular practice strengthens the connection between mind and body bringing awareness to how you move in your daily life helping to resolve dysfunctional movement patterns and improves posture.
Whether caused by inactivity, injury or stress, back pain is an all too common complaint that can get in the way of enjoying life to the fullest. The Pilates programs on offer at Poundbury Pilates progress from raising your body awareness through your practice of good breathing, alignment and centring techniques to a gentle routine that strengthens the abdominal and back muscles.
Poundbury Pilates offers one-to-one private sessions for expectant mothers in the comfort of a fully equipped Pilates studio. Our sessions are tailored to your individual needs giving a safe, low impact and effective way to exercise during pregnancy and after birth.

The benefits of Pregnancy Pilates are in managing the postural changes that occur in response to your growing baby, which can cause discomfort and misalignment in different parts of your body.
Pilates is a mind-body exercise system created by German-born Joseph Pilates in 1920. It is a blend of several disciplines including Yoga and Thai-Chi. There are different forms of Pilates; physiotherapists use Pilates based exercises to rehabilitate patients, and the fitness industry offer Pilates classes as a core workout.

The added bonus of doing pilates is that i'm getting some muscle tone in my stomach area which i haven't seen for over 20 years!

I've never done Pilates before and really wanted to give it a go. Ruth offered me a free taster session and I absolutely loved it so booked a course of 10.
The studio is beautiful, centrally located in Poundbury and surrounded by loads of free parking.
Ruth is a lovely calming person who makes you feel so relaxed in the classes and she has all the latest equipment including reformer machines which are rare to find locally. These classes have really improved my flexibility and self confidence.
