A very different and interesting little museum that requires £3 on entry. A mish mash of local history of St.Ives with a lot of emphasis on transportation, fishing and well...St. Ives.
It does look a little dated but the handwritten descriptions are a nice touch.
Absolutely no photos allowed and if you go downstairs the exit is alarmed so don’t try it!
I was particularly interested in the images of Alfred Wallis here.

What a really lovely place to visit
It's been a bit since me and my wife were here but I have just been looking at some photos I took in
St Ives and saw 2 photos I had taken when we were coming along the Harbour and saw this Museum
do you know when you visit a place and you remember each minute and wish you could stop in the place all day this is how I was feeling when we came out
I know if we revisit st Ives anytime I will call back in here

10.7.2018.An interesting museum.3 pounds to enter, closed on Sunday's.No photo's allowed.A threat of prosecution if i tried at every area of the museum. It's okay for an hour of your time if only to escape the crowds. This is the first museum i have been to where there is the threat of prosecution if i took a photograph.Nothing much to take pictures of i haven't seen before.Run by volunteers which is nice.So tempting to post a photo but probably not worth the hassle.Yes i did take photographs. No chance of using the fire exit downstairs to get out. You've guessed it.Prosecution.Bad bad tourists.

Situated near the end of the harbour, the museum entrance is on the first floor, up a fairly steep staircase. There is a secondary entrance at ground level that gives access to a stair lift for those with a mobility problem. Entry is £3 for adults and is a reasonable amount for what's on offer and I believe it's run by local volunteers.
Despite all the artefacts on display, I came away feeling I didn't really know much more about St. Ives than before, which is a shame.
The museum is laid out over the two floors. The top floor has sections on shipping, the railway, clothing etc. Downstairs is

Fantastic museum and only 3 quid to get in. They really really don't want you to take any photos but I recommend you do have your phone to hand as a number of exhibits are poorly labelled and it's hard to understand what's on display without some background local knowledge. Apparently opening the downstairs fire exit will lead to prosecution!
