Royal Cornwall Museum
At the very heart of Cornwall and its cultural life, the museum is a centre of exploration and learning. Using the eclectic collections of Cornish culture, art, antiquities, archaeology, science, and natural history we take people on a journey from deep underground to up into the sky, around the world and way back in time.

In doing this, we use our collections to help our communities look forward together. Everyone is an artist! Take part in an extravaganza of drawing that includes an exhibition of original works and prints by Old Masters. Portrait photography by Gavan Goulder of those involved in protests over the lack of action taken by leaders and government to address the climate emergency.

Brilliant of course the mummy was my favourite as it is such a rare sight to see but there is a huge collection of various items from stone age throughout. I do wish there was a little more information avaliable to work out what the items were and used for. It is worth the visit and I definitely would visit again.

We visited the Tony Foster Exhibition, it's definitely worth visiting. His paintings through the lockdowns are especially beautiful.

Lovely place to visit. The staff were very friendly and approachable. After paying and walking into the gallery; there was a lovely lady who told me where to find all the exhibitions, and where to start. There is lots to see, from various parts in history, going back the ancient caveman and women, to the Romans, and the modern day and towards the future in relation to how Cornwall is involved with space. There is little interaction for young children, and some have been disabled due to Covid. There was a large touch screen with interaction, but for some reason it kept freezing, so I gave up trying

We love coming here to this museum, every time we come to Cornwall. It's an excellent museum. There's so much to see there and there's an amazing restaurant with good homemade food there as well. Most definitely would recommend this place to anyone that likes to learn about the history of Cornwall.

Fantastic historical collection from the local area. Gift shop, cafe and toilet facilities available. There is stairs and a lift to the upper floor.

Wasn't very inspired by our visit. The cost of entry allows for an annual 'pass' and as many free revisits as you'd like however I didn't see anything that would warrant a return.
There are quite a number of objects and artifacts to review but poor signage and indicators meant that it was very hard to try and maintain interest AND remain covid safe.
Won't be putting in a return visit I'm afraid. Feels like the museum needs someone to grab it, shake it, and bring it back to life as some of the other great museums available around the country.

Just popes in for a flying visit (much like this squirrel). Loved the artwork from the graduates and other artists. Looking forward to returning and checking out everything else tomorrow

Beautiful little Museum in the city of Truro, I love it. Its small but full, not just local treasures but as far as Egyptian artifacts and all across the Mediterranean. Friendly staff and lots of space to roam around and totally covid friendly with plenty of hand sanitiser and spacers marked on the floor to help you keep your distance.
Love wondering around looking at iron age and bronze age tools, coins. Roman pots and gold coins to swords and spears. I'll let you find the rest for yourselves
You can find the museum @ 25 River St TR12SJ.
It's only £5 and under 18's are free. Bargain.

Our first visit here and tbh I wasn't expecting to stay long as my youngest with special needs gets overwhelmed so we end up rushing out. Not here. They loan out sensory backpacks, which includes ear defenders, squashy toys and tangle bands plus more, all to help keep that person calm. And it worked. It meant my eldest two could do the crafts on offer, follow the quiz around the museum and spend time looking at the exhibits (currently includes a mummy)
They also do Explorer packs for children, which have magnifying glasses in and other bits to help them go round. They can ever wear an explorers
