This depends entirely on your musical preference, or who you are buying for. For young beginners, a nylon string classical guitar (as opposed to steel string acoustic) is often better suited, as the nylon string material is gentler on the fingertips.
Not neccessarily, but if you want to gain theoretical knowledge of topics such as timing, rhythm, key signatures, time signatures, then it is essential to dedicate some time to learning standard notation, particularly the rhythmic aspect of it.Due to a busy online teaching schedule I am currently only available for home visits during the school holidays.

Excellent tutor, very knowledgeable and friendly. Very calm and patient with my daughter. Always well prepared for the lessons. My daughter cleared her grade 2 exams with distinction. Would not have been possible without Adam’s guidance. Highly recommended!

Adam has been teaching my son for over a year and a half and he's been brilliant. All of the lessons have been on Zoom and my nine year old has stayed really interested and motivated by everything he and Adam have learnt together. Adam is patient, organised and balances teaching Ronin current tracks he is interested in with preparing him for grade exams. We highly recommend Adam as a teacher, whatever your guitar level, particularly given how well my son's guitar playing has progressed with him.

Adam has been teaching me for 7m now, after I decided to try to realise a childhood dream to play rock guitar. It can't be easy teaching a musically-challenged 50+ year old, but Adam does it with enthusiastic, patient, good-humour and I enjoy every minute!

Adam has been teaching guitar to my daughter for the last year via her secondary school. He continued the lessons online during lockdowns which was excellent, they were very well organised and ran smoothly. My daughter really enjoys lessons. Adam is a good teacher, patient and encouraging. He provides a good variety of learning material. He is reliable and he was happy to rearrange a lesson when my daughter couldn't make.

My son (now 10) has been having guitar lessons with Adam for just over a year now. Adam is a superb teacher - very patient and very skilled in developing his students. My son loves the lessons and achieved a distinction in his grade 2 earlier this year. Would strongly recommend Adam to all interested in taking up or developing their guitar skills!

Adam is a brilliant teacher with a huge amount of patience who has been so good with my son who has some learning difficulties and extra needs. When he started with Adam a few months ago he had never played a guitar in his life - he now plays really well and his confidence has grown enormously. Most importantly of all, he is really enjoying his lessons and practises a lot - and I know from my own experience that it takes an excellent music teacher to inspire such enthusiasm. We are so glad we found Adam - he is perfect for us.

My daughter started with Adam around 6 months ago and has made great progress under his tutelage increasing in both skill and confidence each session. He keeps an open dialogue with both my daughter and myself and is always professional and prompt to reply to any questions we have. I would highly recommend Adam as a tutor to anyone looking to improve on their skills.

I've been getting lessons from Adam for over 4 years now and wouldn't hesitate to recommend him as a guitar teacher. Learning to play an instrument can be a lifelong hobby, but if you want a steer on what you're doing right, and what you need to improve on, a teacher can really accelerate your progress. I've gone from a dabbler to someone who sometimes sounds like they know what they're doing and I couldn't have done it without Adam's help.
