Chelmsford Equestrian Centre
We're so lucky to have a great team in the riding centre and livery yard, delivering the service you expect and deserve. I have worked full time at CEC for 10 years and am yard manager, responsible for the Riding School & Livery. I have been riding since I was 9 years old and currently have 2 horses.

I have achieved my BHS Stage 4 care. Having worked at CEC a number of years ago, as a working student. Kalie has now returned as a full-time member of staff, mainly working on the livery yard. She has been riding since she was 11 years old and has her BHS Stage 1 & 2 and her Riding and Road Safety.
Services
Chelmsford's own equestrian centre has been under new management since 2012 and has undergone major upgrades and development. The Centre was acquired by new owners in Spring 2012 and has been undergoing a number of exciting investments to improve the facilities. Immediately noticeable is the new reception and parking area, the new Waxtrack surface in the large indoor arena and the 6000 metres of new fencing around the fields.
The assessments our staff have had to undergo along with ongoing training means they've earned their stripes. Chosen for their temprement and ability, we have horses and ponies to suit every discipline and level or rider. We pride ourselves on the atmosphere, making sure you have the best time during your time with us.
During the school holidays we offer Pony Rides most weekdays, for children from the age of 4 to 8 years. Weather permitting, the children will ride round the fields on their pony. We will ride in groups of no more than 5 children, and each child will be lead by their own individual leader, who will walk beside them on foot.
We are confident that our prices are competitive with other Riding Schools in the Chelmsford or Essex area and that we offer our clients excellent value. Prices quoted are per rider. Our general maximum weight limit for beginner and returning riders is 12.5 stone; however this does vary from time. If you are a new client please check our current maximum weight limits at the time of booking.
Being a part of Chelmsford Equestrian Centre's Loan-A-Pony scheme is extremely rewarding for children who are interested in riding and horse care. The CEC pony loaning scheme is aimed at kids who love horses and enjoy being around and working with horses on a regular basis.

Pony loaners not only have access to a horse they can call their own, they also get the opportunity to work in a supervised way on the yard alongside our staff to further increase their knowledge of equestrianism.Pony loaners can have fun, socialise with like-minded children and learn the routine, skills and responsibilities of keeping a horse.

The stables has a weight restriction of 11 stone for men or women. In my opinion this should be stated clearly on the website. This would prevent time wasting, and intrusive questions later.

First time at this place. It's called Off the Road and is located inside Chelmsford Equestrian Centre. They have 4 mini Land Rovers for children to drive. Really easy to use and parents have a emergency key to switch off the car if your child was about to drive into a bush or run over a parent! Very safe and practical.
Have to say really enjoyed it and a great day out for both children and parents. This is a must do activity, you won't be disappointed!

My daughter had an hour's groom and ride session today and absolutely loved it! The communication from the start from Lucy on the reception was amazing, right up to a reminder the night before. We had Lisa taking the lesson who was really calm, friendly and patient with my daughter, taking time to show her how to care for a pony before showing her how to tack up and get ready to ride, naming each piece of equipment as they went. She then had a good half hour ride both inside and then out in the field and even did a bit of trotting. My daughter can't wait to start lessons here! I'd definitely recommend

I was based on the livery side for 10 years and I can’t thank the staff & Chelmsford Equestrian Centre for taking such amazing care of my horse. He made the grand age of 30 and CEC was definitely a contributing… factor towards this. If you want someone to actually care and love your horse this is the best yard for your horse. Thank you again CEC will miss you guys.

My daughter and I visit Chelmsford Equestrian most weeks. Becca has an individual riding lesson (Jumping and Dressage skills) and I am welcome to watch her progress from a sheltered viewing area. Staff are friendly and they have a flexible approach towards bookings that includes a 24-hour notice cancellation policy. They also offer a loyalty card… discount (25% discount on your 11th lesson) for their regular riders. We have visited a number of Riding Centres over the years and agree that CEC is the cleanest - So clean that we can store riding gear in my daughter's bedroom!

I’ve been riding at CEC for over 3 years now and they have always been amazing. From friendly reception and yard staff, that are always super helpful to amazing instructors who have a wealth of experience. The yard is always very clean and the horses are all exceptionally well cared for. I have several issues with my mobility and that has always… been accommodated for very well. The horses have also accommodated me as well, which show well how friendly and happy they are. Would definitely recommend this centre to beginners and advanced riders alike.

Great riding staff but the reception staff can be a bit to be desired as if you want to cancel or rearrange a lesson there rule is a full 24 hours in advance not even an hour late as they will assign a pony that then can't be changed

I have been having fortnightly private lessons since Septemeber and I love it here. Tracey is my instructor and she's fantastic, she assessed my capabilities whilst putting me on an appropriate horse in my first lesson.
Although I had been around horses for the first 15 years of my life and knew how to ride, it had been a few years since I had been back on a horse so I was a little nervous, especially the fact that the horse was a 17hh thoroughbred! But my worriez were for nothing as he was amazing to ride and I have ridden him a few times since.
Tracey is very encouraging and also reassuring
