Newham Riding School
Docklands Equestrian Centre is owned and operated by the UK registered charity, Newham Riding School & Association Ltd. We provide top quality indoor and outdoor all weather flood-lit facilities where local disabled and able bodied children and adults learn to ride and care for horses at affordable prices.

We holds regular events and clinics and run a variety of children's activities during term time and school holidays. We also offer a points based volunteers program to our riders 12yrs and over who want to gain experience in stable management. Volunteers points can earn them free lessons. Both my daughter and I have been riding at the school for 7 years, that should speak for itself!
Services
Docklands Equestrian Centre is a BHS & ABRS approved riding centre and offers riding lessons and training all the year round. We have both an indoor arena (20 x 60m) and outdoor menage (20 x 40m) with an all weather surface. We cater for all levels of rider including Riding for the Disabled (RDA).
Riding for the Disabled is an internationally recognised charity that enables riders with disabilities to undertake riding. Docklands Equestrian Centre is a member group of the Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) and we have RDA qualified staff. We undertake lessons for a variety of disabilities.
All riders are required to wear boots and a hat. Do not buy any specialist items until you have decided to take up riding regularly as a hobby, as we supply boots and a safety certified riding helmets. You only get one head, look after it! An approved safety hat must be worn. It must comply with BSI standards (min PAS 015 & BS EN 1384).
For insurance purposes children must have had their 12th birthday to stay and volunteer at the centre. Each new volunteer will be paired with a Senior Volunteer or Member of Staff until they have completed their Induction and Training. Our volunteer scheme aims to support young volunteers to gain valuable stable management experience and introduces skills in responsibility, organisation and communication.
At Docklands Equestrian Centre we offer very competitively priced livery in East London. Our convenient location, close to the A13 and A406 (North Circular Rd), London City Airport, a DLR station and on major bus routes, makes us a popular choice with horse owners living / working in the East London area.

My sons, loved it. Staff were friendly and helpful. Horses were looked after and well kempt.
We went for their drop in horse and pony ride session. 5 laps at £5 which i thought was pretty decent. They do have a riding school avaible too.
Lovely for children. They have free loan wellies for those who don't have or forget. Just make sure you wear full length trousers.
They do require you to wear a mask, so bring one along or pay £1 per mask. For anyone riding and for those guiding a young child.

I have been riding at Docklands Equestrian Centre for six months, and in this time I have progressed from only being able to walk on the lead rein to walking, trotting and cantering independently. I have learned both the rising and sitting trot, the importance of posture and how to check and correct my diagonals, and I feel very confident in my riding ability. I do not understand why @Claudia's review below stated that her daughter has been here for six years and has not progressed past walking and trotting: this is the total opposite of my experience, and I would like to point out that in her

My daughter has been attending this riding school for the last 6years and so far all she is doing is walking around the arena and occasionally trotting! No cantering,no galloping,no obstacle course and the excuse is that the whole group she is in needs to learn their diagonals.Teachers come and go,they lack experience and interest and are too bored to even care. They increased their prices, but quality of teaching is abismal.I am paying to see the absolute same thing every week for the last 6years,I am totally fed up with it and my daughter has lost confidence in her abilities,as there is nothing

Yard manager is CLUELESS on horses!!!!!!!
No turnout ANYWHERE
All I see is posts on the social media about horses dying.
Helpers/volunteers don’t get their points marked down (I was a volunteer but didn’t bother coming back because I was too ashamed to be associated with the yard).
Some members of staff really have no regard for the horses.
One staff member made a comment about “beating manners into it” gesturing to a horse in the arena which just so happened to be mine.
IT WAS OVERHEARD BY MY PARENTS AND ANOTHER STAFF MWMBER!!!! I WAS NEVER APOLOGISED TO FOR THE THREAT MADE TOWARDS

We had my daughters 4th birthday here. It was amazing. Jean (manager) was super friendly, accommodating and laid back. We had 16 children riding the ponies and used the hall to have food, drinks, games and cake. We had so much fun we ran over but Jean was able to accommodate us anyway. The ladies looking after the children in the rides were friendly. Everyone had an amazing time, the children even got a private session with a few of the ponies to stroke and feed them at the end. My daughter had the best time, definitely a party all her friends will remember. We'll be back for proper lessons when

Centre is quite far off from the main road. We came here for a pony ride session, which honestly was quite sad, horses and ponies were lifeless, staff were very blunt, I would go as far as fed up and not engaging at all. System is not very clear, as nothing is explained, but you need to have gloves, which they sell for £1, you can bring your own, ride is £1 per lap, you also need a helmet and boots which both can be borrowed for free at the place. I was thinking of signing kids for lessons here, but so happy I didn't. My 8y.o. son said he doesn't want to get on the horse so not to hurt it, that
