Lawson's design and manufacture machinery for offshore and onshore industries. We work directly with the customer, using our extensive experience to evolve field proven designs to provide cost effective and efficient solutions. Some of them entirely new concepts. We make tough machines for extreme environments, these delivered worldwide for subsea, offshore, oil and gas, defence and industry.

Our main specialism is the design and manufacture of high quality ROV Launch and Recovery Systems LARS, cranes, hydraulic power units, pressure vessels, electric, pneumatic and hydraulic winches and goods lifts. From concept design to delivery, our team provides a complete service. ISO 9001:2015 accredited, we maintain high standards and strict quality control during all stages of build and testing.
Services
Our history in bespoke design and manufacture of reliable high-quality mechanical handling systems begins in 1965. The company was started by Russell Lawson, an aerial cableways designer, from a drawing board in a back bedroom. Since then, our decades of knowledge, skill, experience and manufacturing capability gives us a huge sense of pride when we see a product leave the factory.
Our skill, experience and manufacturing capability with electric, pneumatic and hydraulic-control machines has benefited customers from small business through to multi-nationals. Products include ROV handling systems, winches, power packs, cranes, A-frames, goods lifts, elevators, conveyors, pressure vessels, carousels, cable engines and purpose designed machines.
A pioneer of Launch and Recovery systems (LARS) for ROVs, tools and hard-suits since 1978, our compact systems are fully integrated to customer requirements. LARS are split between 'specials' and 'products', range from 1-16Te SWL (load lifted from the deck), to handle 100-8000m of cable usually 6-150mm diameter, and all operate to Sea State 6 or higher.
With the success of our standard work class ROV LARS we have often been asked to prepare a more entry level system. To meet this need we developed a Lightweight work class. A lightweight Launch and Recovery System for an Intervention class Remotely Operated Vehicle. Comprising a winch with integrated Hydraulic Power Unit and an A-Frame with docking head.
Our decades of design skill and knowledge allow us to work alongside our customers to solve problems cost effectively. Our products are comprehensively tested and documented before installation with a full aftercare provision. All newly designed machines are made in house. We retain all those skills required to produce every part of one of our machines in the work force.

This company needs to learn customer service skills and perhaps take on more staff to cover the workload as they are clearly too busy to deal with any new business. Would not recommend them to anyone and if you can go elsewhere, do so. Very sarcastic staff.
