Tae Kwon Do is the Korean art of self-defence and means "The Art of Foot and Hand Fighting". Its origins go back 3,000 years, howeve, it has evolved with time to reflect the needs and aspirations of the modern martial artist. You don't need to be fit or flexible to start, just be willing to learn and work towards your goals.
Our specially designed programme teaches children core values such as discipline and respect, both for themselves and others. By starting at an early age, they will develop positive habits to last a lifetime. We believe in bringing out the best in children and have designed our classes to be entertaining and informative.
The Tae Kwon Do Association of Great Britain (TAGB) is Europe's largest single martial arts organisation, with more than 25,000 members and over 500 clubs. It is a founder member of the British Tae Kwon Do Council (BTC), which is the only martial arts association recognised by the Sports Council. We follow a carefully structured teaching syllabus which gives students clear goals in the form of coloured belts.
No, it is purely optional. A belt is a visual sign of the progress an individual has made. We would like to think that the challenge of learning our martial art will inspire you to set goals for yourself and the belts you gain could be part of this goal-setting. However if you are quite happy not to grade we will still be happy to have you as a member.
