Services
Horse riding is a risk sport, and horses will always be unpredictable animals, so health and safety on and off the yard must always be paramount. As part of your lesson your instructor will offer advice on how to handle and behave around horses.
Some pointers that equally well apply should meet some horses when out in the countryside are; Always approach a horse from the front, don't sneak up on a horse from behind - let the animal know you are there, say 'hello'.As a horse has a wide angle of view but can't see directly behind keep a hand on its body to let it know you're there as you move behind it.

Bursted Manor Riding Centre is dedicated to providing a high standard of horse riding and horse riding instruction for adults and children, from five years of age and older. We offer group horse riding for all levels, semi-private riding for couples or small private groups or private one to one tuition.
The Pony Club is an international voluntary youth organization for young people under the age of 25 who are interested in ponies and riding. You do not need your own horse or pony to join a Pony Club centre, therefore much of the pleasure of horse care, responsibility and experience can be replicated without the commitment or expense of being a horse/pony owner.
Quality hay, hayledge, shavings, straw and feed means you can be assured your horse will be in tip top condition. Qualified instructors are on-site at our livery stables 24 hours a day, so your horse will have the best constant care and supervision. A bespoke livery is available for busy owners who may have requirements outside the regular livery service.
We have access to acres of beautiful forestry, bridleways and stewardship fields. Every effort is made to match rider and horse together. Group hacks are graded so that riders of similar ability ride together. New riders with little experience may be asked to ride on a one to one with the escort to assess their ability before joining a group hack.

I went for a horse riding lesson there in 2015. The horse refused to listen to my comands and one of the girls attending the stables mentioned that the horse has a bad temperament. Instead of offering a solution, the instructor took the liberty to shout at me. She was rude and had a patronising attitude.

Bursted Manor riding centre kindly gave me the chance to work with horses and gain confidence when I'd never even touched a horse before. 11 years later I will ride new horses ive never met before and am capable of taking horses to and from fields with confidence. All the skills Pam and Becky gave me I use now and are often noticed and complimented on from other teachers and riders and I feel privileged and proud to of had my first hand experience at Bursted. I highly recommend this professional riding school.
