Hertford Museum is a charity reliant on grants and donations from visitors and supporters to meet weekly running costs of around 4,000. The Museum cares for in excess of 100,000 objects. Our collections include archaeology, paper ephemera, ethnography, fine art, geology, natural history, photographs, social history and the Hertfordshire Regiment collection.
We also hold the Addis company archive, including the largest collection of toothbrushes in the world.

Services
Under normal circumstances, Hertford Museum runs a lively and diverse annual programme of events for ages. Our events are also publicised via our twitter and Facebook pages. Join Helen Gibson, of East Herts Archaeological Society, and discover Herts & Essex houses and farm buildings from the 12th century onwards.
What do we do? Hertford Museum offers guided tours and workshops to enable pupils to experience history first hand with our unique handling resources. We offer a range of themes, delivered both at the museum or at the school. Our wide range of hands-on engaging workshops help you and your students explore key themes in the history, science and geography topics of the National Curriculum.
Reminiscence Sessions have been proven to provide therapeutic benefits for older people, particularly those suffering from dementia. These sessions are delivered by trained museum staff and volunteers and include handling of "memory boxes" containing familiar objects from the past. Tactile, visual and audio experiences aid the reminiscence process and encourage fun and laughter and the recall of pleasant and happy memories.
Hertford Museum is a registered charity; generously supported by Hertford Town Council with an annual grant which covers approximately 50% of our running costs. We rely heavily on external project funding, donations and generating income from events and services to enable us to continue caring for our collections and delivering the engaging programme so valued by our visitors.
The Museum enjoys the patronage of more than 30 individuals and companies who support us via their annual membership, as well as participating in the life of the museum in many different ways. Our Patrons are invaluable to us and contribute significantly to the Museum's financial sustainability. We regularly acknowledge our Patrons' donations by sending e-newsletters throughout the year and by inviting them to special previews and events.

I love this museum. It's got a little shop and quite a lot of artifacts from Britain and the rest of the world. There's a hands on children's area to keep little ones busy.
My daughter likes to go there when in hertford and each time I see something I missed from a different visit. Recommend heading there if in Hertford Town.

A diamond of a museum in hertford.
This museum is not the biggest place but contains all the history of hertford of which there is quite a lot.
In the school holidays they run activity's that are fantastic, the one they ran in the summer was dinosaurs and you could add to the collage in the museum or make a dinosaur scene.
All the materials were included and it cost 50p per child, the staff were very helpful as well.
Upstairs they have a little children's play area and a lovely little garden out the back.
