Martial arts were developed in China over the centuries and cover a wide spectrum. Wugong Mountain is located in China's Jiangxi Province, and is one of China's three great mountains to the south of the Yangtze River. We offer junior, adult and private classes at our Canterbury Centre, and other locations in Kent.
We teach Tai Chi, Kung Fu, Kickboxing, Ju Jitsu, Wing chun, Olympic freestyle wrestling and self defence. Keeping fit benefits weight management, efficient functioning of the heart, improved blood circulation, and lower stress levels. It helps in the toning of muscles and strengthening of bones. Barry Phelan teaches the Chinese martial arts classes in Canterbury; Tai Chi, Chi Gong, Kung fu, Wing Chun and kickboxing.

The term Kung Fu refers to the martial arts of China. Kung Fu originated in a place called the Shaolin Temple, where monks practiced Kung Fu for health and self-defence during their quest for enlightenment. Although being fighting styles, Kung Fu advocates virtue and peace, not aggression or violence.
Chinese kickboxing is called Sanshou or Sanda (full contact) or Qinda (light contact) and is a modern unarmed combat sport that developed from traditional wushu techniques, and primarily makes use of boxing, kicking, throwing, takedowns wrestling and defensive techniques. First we warm up, which is usually a mixture of fitness training and basic kickboxing techniques, followed by dynamic stretching.
