Your eyes are an important part of your health. There are many things you can do to keep them healthy and make sure you are seeing your best. Follow these simple steps for maintaining healthy eyes well into your golden years. You might think your vision is fine or that your eyes are healthy, but visiting your eye care professional for a comprehensive dilated eye exam is the only way to really be sure.
In short, the definition of Hypermetropia (long sightedness) is where the eye is shorter than normal or the cornea is too flat, meaning that light rays focus behind the retina. Light rays from close objects such as pages of a book cannot be focused on clearly by the retina. Someone with hypermetropic eyes may find their vision is blurred when looking at objects near to them, and for vision to be clearer when looking at far away objects.
When we are young, the lens in the eye can change its shape allowing us to focus on near objects. This condition is defined as presbyopia and is a normal part of ageing. Presbyopia is usually first noticed by difficulties reading in low light. Often, you may find it will take longer for eyes to refocus from reading to distance and from distance to reading.
Nystagmus is a classified eye disease where the patient experiences an involuntary movement of the eyes in which they oscillate from side to side, up and down or even in a circular motion. People who have Nystagmus are usually either blind or have very poor vision. Their vision can be considered a lot worse than what some would call short sighted, and their vision is already hampered to a certain extent.

I found everyone there highly proficient and professional whilst also really friendly and helpful.
Also found that they offer services which are not yet available at specsavers for my son.
They made my 8 year old feel very at ease and comfortable. Overall we are very happy with our choice to use Paul Cheethams. 👍🏼

Without a doubt one of the best opticians around. I have been at this practice for over 25 years now and cannot fault them. They have looked after my eye sight superbly and I keep coming back even though I have now moved a fair distance away. Lorraine is stand out awesome and knows her stuff when it comes to contact lenses, prescriptions and what is happening with technology advances as 'better' contact lenses come to market. Paul created a great practice here that has dominated the North west/Rochdale for years. Highly recommend it still. Great Place.

In a state of emergency, needed both my essential pairs of glasses adjusting as cannot see without them and am a frontline worker! Phoned Paul Cheerhams and the lovely Karen asked me to go in same day, within an hour of my call! She fixed both pairs there and then, something another popular optician could not do and I can now see again, go to work… and do my job! I will be forever grateful to both Karen and Farheem for their skills and genuine care of their customers and will highly recommend them to anyone! It’s a true saying, you get what you pay for and you can’t get better

I took my granddaughter here this morning for an eye test and checkup. The reception staff are very friendly and helpful, The specialist who carried out her eye test was very friendly, informative and made my granddaughter feel very relaxed throughout her eye test. The service is very good and I would recommend this to anyone needing an eye test. 👍👍👍👍
