Crescent Optical
Crescent Optical is a small, family run independent eyecare practice. We offer a much needed alternative to the conveyor-belt approach of high street opticians, by providing a more personal service akin to our sister company Crescent Orthodontics. We aim to give our patients the best possible optometric services, through careful evaluation of visual requirements, or detection and appropriate management of abnormal eye conditions.

Whether treating private or NHS patients, children and adults, our high level of service remains the same.
Services
How well we see affects almost everything we do, it is therefore important to make sure that we are making the most of our eyes by having regular eye tests. As an independent family run business, our fully qualified Optometrists aim to tailor the eye test to your individual lifestyle requirements. We focus on a qualitative, bespoke eye examination and take great pride in ensuring patient satisfaction.
The eye test also includes a general health check that can pick on early signs of eye disease (such as glaucoma, or macular degeneration) before you're aware of any symptoms. The health of the eyes can also signal and be affected by certain general health conditions (including Diabetes and Hypertension).
Your optic nerve carries information from the light-sensitive surface inside your eye (retina) to the brain enabling you to see that information as a picture. When glaucoma develops, the optic nerve is damaged by a build of pressure in the eye, which if left untreated can lead to visual impairment.
Diabetes can affect the blood vessels of the eye, where high blood sugar levels can cause damage to retinal cells. An eye check can show up early signs of diabetes, sometimes before the presence of any other symptoms. Whilst lifestyle changes and regular checks with your GP are extremely important in management of diabetes, regular eye checks are also required (at least once annually unless otherwise advised).
Is a disorder that affects the part of the retina responsible for central vision, it causes progressive loss to central vision. The most common form is Age-related Macular Degeneration. If you are experiencing any of the above mentioned symptoms and would like advice from our qualified Optometrists please contact us.
