My name is Julie Starns, I have been a qualified Montessori early years educator since 1989. Sunrise Langley is based in a charming Kentish ragstone building; the building has provided a place for education since 1854. Due to high demand, we expanded our provision in 2011 and opened Sunrise Harrietsham which is based in The Station House at Harrietsham station.
We offer childcare for 51 weeks of the year between 7.30am and 6.00pm; catering for children from 6 months to 5 years. The Duchess of Cambridge has launched The Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood and her Big Change Starts Small report. As a progressive day nursery, we are always looking at how we can continue to provide our parents with the "best" experience possible.

My name is Julie Starns, I have been a qualified early years educator since 1989. Within six months, the nursery facilities were extended to offer full day care for children from 6 months to 5 years. Sunrise Langley is based in a charming Kentish ragstone building; the building has provided a place for education since 1854.
The aim of our staff at Sunrise is to be a group of caring and dedicated practitioners who work as a team, accepting and practicing an agreed educational philosophy, and collectively expressing one clear concern; the total welfare of all the children in their care. We aim to create an environment where continuity for children and parents is priority and, therefore, we operate a 'key person' system.
Settling in sessions are planned with parents/carers and their child's key person. We offer all families a 'stay and play' visit where you come with your child and have informal discussions with your child's key person. We then offer free, two-hour settling in sessions for each child, without parents/carers.
Sunrise Day Nursery at Harrietsham is the sister site to our Langley nursery and is housed in the old station master's house next to Harrietsham railway station. The fully refurbished building was adapted and registered to offer care for 26 children. The setting is spread over two floors. Our Baby and Tweenie rooms are downstairs; dedicated to meeting the needs of up to 11 children between the ages of 6 months and 2 years.

Julie and her team are wonderful. The staff are attentive, caring and genuine. Our little girl has been attending since 11 months and we are so grateful we started her at Sunrise. Her progress since she started has been amazing, especially her speech. It was hard to send her back in such uncertain times but the team have gone above and beyond to reassure us and do everything they can to ensure the children’s safety. I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending Sunrise to any parent in the area, they really are worth their weight in gold.

Julie and her staff are amazing ! My son has been there for a year and couldn’t have been looked after better than he has been at sunrise . He is loved , cared , nurtured and learning all at the same time ! There is nothing more that you could ask as a parent! I can’t recommend them highly enough ! Even in these uncertain times I know he is safe and that puts my mind at ease more than they know. Thank you Sunrise!

Louie joined sunrise in January 2018 and left in April 2020. The ladies I couldn’t thank enough, until he stated I had never left him with anyone else. The staff and other children became Louie’s second family… and he was treated so well! He found the transition from nursery to preschool room difficult but was supported with the most outstanding care, I couldn’t have asked for more and I couldn’t recommend this early years setting enough! Thank you so much ❤️

Although my boys aged 17 and 14 left Sunrise some years ago, I have wonderful memories of Easter egg hunts and Sports days. We have made some wonderful lifelong friends too. Julie and her staff were there for both of my children and meeting their individual needs was always their priority. Parents were made to feel welcome and along with informative communication, I can honestly not think of anything negative to say about this fantastic nursery setting. X

My youngest son is just coming to the end of his time at Sunrise but we have been using Sunrise since 2014. Both my sons have been extremely happy there and my husband and I have been super pleased with the care, attention and love that the boys have received from all of the staff over the years.
The communication between the nursery and parents… has been great and my children love the food that they are served (Nanny Sue’s sausage plait is legendary in our house!)

Both my boys went to Sunrise and absolutely loved it. It was a great place for them to socialise, have fun and learn. It prepared them both for school and taught them many life lessons that they still talk about now and they are 19 and 22! They made some great friends (as we did) and are still in contact with them now. Sunrise nursery brings back very fond memories.
