Passionate about Yorkshire, its farmers and local producers; Fodder, a Yorkshire farm shop and caf, supports and sells the very best. Our shelves are stocked with food and drink from over 430 farmers and producers, with 85% of what is sold and served coming from Yorkshire. We are proud to be the only food shop and caf in the UK where all profits go to a farming charity - the Yorkshire Agricultural Society.
So for every purchase you make, you help pay for a child to enjoy a free trip to Countryside Days or a farmer to have a health check which may save his life. The idea of Fodder started in 2001 when British agriculture was hit hard by Foot and Mouth and the Society wanted to come up with a long-term sustainable plan which would help farmers in Yorkshire.

I’ve been coming here for years, but no more. Shoddy and poor, slow and indifferent service. No coordination of staff, too busy chitchatting amongst themselves, It’s no surprise, it is nowhere as busy as it… used to be. Brought me a scone after an eternity of both waiting to order and then delivery, no napkin, no knife, no butter. It’s not as if it was busy, it was at 50% capacity.

I haven't eaten here but have shopped many times so my review is based on that only.
The accent is on locally sourced food - something that Fodder really excel at. An excellent selection of fruit and veg - it it's in season Fodder will find it. Asparagus (May/June) comes from a farm just over a mile away. The same can be said for strawberries. Meat is from local farms and not only is the selection and quality very good, you can see the butchers in the back rooms cutting the meat up. Chuck in a great cheese counter, lots of local beer, cured meats, chocolates, sweets and puddings... It

Overall food was 3.5 but atmosphere was a 4.5.
Great choice for a lazy weekend! My first time at this place and I never knew there was a boutique grocery store up front! It's nice, kind of reminiscent of the Wheeton's in town (Harrogate). I really enjoy the strong theme of locally sourced high quality food that permeates this place. The employees seem happy which often results in better service, which was the case with my visit today.
I like the large open feel of this place combined with the big open windows and the outside tables with umbrellas. The amount of light this place invites

When we first visited Fodder, I was truly overwhelmed by how amazing the food was. However, I think they've swapped chef or changed their kitchen/serving staff.
We visited for breakfast last week and was hugely dissatisfied with the food, service was so slow we ended up chasing our food, drinks and bill!
We had a cooked breakfast which was cold, over cooked and slopped onto the plates. Food arrived before drinks, the drinks were cold also. We were confused because it wasn't busy either.
On a previous occasion we had a similar experience, yet before that, I have heartily recommended Fodder
