With over 20 years experience in student accommodation in Birmingham and the surrounding areas, The Student Letting Company is well qualified to satisfy your accommodation requirements, from single students to multiple occupancy in the Edgbaston, Five Ways, Harborne, Aston, Selly Oak, Smethwick and Perry Barr areas, providing excellent access to all Birmingham University campuses and colleges.

The Student Letting Company have expanded into larger self contained offices based in the heart of the Edgbaston student village which provides the students with a direct point of contact should they have any problems. We also have a full time maintenance team to ensure that any repairs are carried out immediately, they are on call 24 hours a day.

The standard of our student accommodation is of a high quality, as most of the properties we manage we also own. It is therefore in our best interests to keep our property portfolio in excellent condition and guarantees your new home will make your stay in the area a comfortable one.

As parents of students ourselves, we are aware of the potential worries created by sub standard student accommodation and unprofessional landlords and can reassure all parties involved we are constantly striving to maintain the quality of all accommodation we are involved with.
We have employed enthusiastic and experienced staff, who are dedicated to ensuring your search for accommodation will be as trouble free and enjoyable as possible. In line with industry best practice, your rent is held in a separate client account for payment to your landlord and your deposits are held by the Government's Deposit Protection Scheme.
We oppose all forms of unlawful and unfair discrimination. All employees and tenants, whether part-time, full-time or temporary will be treated fairly and with respect.' On making your booking with Student Letting Company (SLC) you will be asked to pay a non-refundable booking fee of 200.00. This is to reserve your room, ensure it is taken off the market and held for you.
The Tenant Handbook has been designed and developed by staff and students. It gives you a clear understanding of what you, as a student, can expect from us, but also what commitments you need to make in return. The Tenant Handbook summarises the Assured Shorthold Tenancy Agreement and provides clear housing guidance to support your accommodation experience.
We believe in a partnership forming between you, the landlord, and SLC Property Group and for that reason we will offer a bespoke service to suit your requirements. However the following services will give you the most popular types of service. An initial set up fee of 50% of the advertised monthly rent (minimum 350), plus 10% of the rent collected on your behalf.

Had a really good year with SLC. They were flexible about the contract and have been really fast and responsive throughout the year whenever we’ve needed them with a maintenance service always on standby. They’ve also been easygoing and understanding throughout lockdown.

AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS! THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU, YOUR WELFARE OR THEIR PROPERTIES. I would not use the term “lived in” but more “paid rent” at a Student Letting property for the past academic year and it has been nothing but hell. Strap yourself in kids this is gonna be a long post. Here is an extend list of the issues I and other… people who have rented at other Student Letting properties have faced:
The property that I was living in was a former brothel. This is the largest issue we faced. Everyone who was living there experienced harassment from men

Unfortunately, my experience with this letting company was far from satisfactory! There was 4 of us renting a 4 bedroom property in Edgebaston, it initially started when our friend had to leave the tenancy- we then got asked whether we wanted them to advertise for a female or male tenant, we requested female due to us all being females- we then got… told we had a male tenant who was willing to accept the spare room, this was not fair and we managed to fill it with a female tenant after complaining! When we initially collected the keys on the 1st of July 2018 the state of the property was

Student Letting have been really easy to deal with and the staff have been great, especially Megan and Leanne. On the few occasions we have had a small issue, they have been easy to get hold of and have dealt with it promptly. I have no hesitation in recommending Student Letting Company.

I was really pleased with the service that I received from SLC in my final year at BCU. I especially love the way that they provide an all inclusive rent along with a large flat screen tv for the living room. They also provide things such as pots and pans and cutlery etc which is really helpful when moving into a property with a group of friends. My house was clean and modern with little homely touches. Thanks again SLC.

This is by far the worst student company I have ever been associated with. The staff are rude and disrespectful and were extremely ignorant towards all damages and repairs. Our house was filthy and in poor condition. We’ve had endless amount of problems getting our deposits back, as they unnecessarily point out areas which are impossible to clean and claim that any damages before you’ve moved in, are you’re responsibility. I also chose to have my room decorated which I paid £160, due to extreme damp and marks alll over the walls. I also paid for a new lock on the door as it was broken and

I moved into a brand new studio in City Centre which was a 3 minute walk to my University, the studio was modern and included a TV. No issues during my tenancy and my deposit was returned within 3 days of me moving out. I will be returning to stay with SLC next semester.

Totally in it to rip students off. When it came to deposit repayment they charge us for rubbish in the garden that is the companies property. They originally put us in a house with rodents, mould and said they were doing 'us a favour' in allowing us to pay more rent at a different property, a week after moving in. Honestly avoid this company. We dealt with the actual landlord of the property a lot more than we did the company as this was much easier and he actually had us, the tenants at heart in the property we moved to.

I would not even give a single star.Worst agency I have ever dealt with.They are desperate in selling the house in anyway possible.The lady named Leanne is so rude and not helpful at all and threw away all my stuff outside my room two days before i was supposed to vacate.They would charge you unnecessarily in order to obtain maximum from your refundable deposit.The house they gave me was not in a really good locality and the area was full of prostitutes at night.They were ignorant to all the repairs which had to be done in the house.I had to bother them a lot to get it repaired.
