In terms of hypnosis, there are 3 parts to our minds: the conscious mind, the subconscious (or unconscious) mind and the critical faculty. Self protection Encourages behaviours that it believes are of benefit to you, even if you don't agree. Long term memory All our memories are held here, though some are easier to access than others.
Cognitive hypnotherapy helps change unwanted patterns and behaviors by connecting with the subconscious mind. Hypnosis has been used to treat chronic types of pain and pain resulting from serious injury. Hypnosis gives your mind and body a chance to recuperate, repair and heal itself by experiencing the relaxation that it desperately needs.
Anxiety can be debilitating and hinder enjoyment of life. It may feel that it has become who you are and that is simply not the case. Amy has supported many clients in transforming their lives and achieving their goals using hypnotherapy for anxiety. For some, that has been anxiety that has dominated for decades.
Amy works with children from the age of 6 and upwards. Between the ages of 6 and 12, children are usually seen with their parent present. From age 12 to 16 it is a collaborative decision between you, the parent, the child and me as to whether you should be present. For your reassurance, Amy holds a full up to date Disclosure and Barring Certificate (DBS).

I emailed Amy seeking help with my long term issues with heights / exposure when out in the hills and mountains. Amy was very professional and over four sessions I have markedly improved in my mental approach to being on exposed and high level walks in the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales. In a relatively short period of time I have gone from nervous and agitated when faced with challenges to being calm and able to assess the situation in a sensible manner, which now means I am enjoying the mountains more than ever. I cannot recommend Amy enough for her help.

I went to see Amy following a traumatic separation with my husband. I hadn’t tried hypnotherapy before and felt immediately relaxed with Amy at her home studio. I was able to open up about my feelings and start to navigate my way through difficult and big emotions.

Amy is so patient and understanding, my little girl is 6 and quite shy but Amy made her at ease straight away, she has had 2 sessions so far and can we already see certain parts of her phobia becoming less intense , I am excited to see her journey progress even further, thank you amy

Amy was an excellent professional in providing support with my difficulties with insomnia, and the clinical method was both focused and holistic at the same time. The hypnosis was both real but not surreal and I felt safe at all times. Amy takes time to understand the issues and the person which definitely seemed to help my successful outcome(s).

I was a little nervous before starting hypnobirthing but I had absolutely no reason to be. Amy was very friendly, warm and professional, she made us feel at ease right away. I have had hypnotherapy with Amy on several occasions. Initially for help with public speaking at a large event I was hosting. The hypnotherapy really helped and I came back to see Amy for help with my fear of flying.
Most recently I have seen Amy with my son. He had developed a fear of bridges, that had got gradually worse over several years. Amy was amazing. She talked through his fears and gently asked questions until we found the start of the fear. I definitely recommend Amy - i was skeptical but hypnotherapy has been the best thing I've done for my mental health. It has helped me immensely with my insomnia, as well as anger and self esteem issues and lack of focus. I went from being extremely sleep deprived (sleeping just 2 or 3 nights a week) to sleeping normally every night and having a normal life again!
