I was a bit skeptical about hypnotherapy partly because of the stuff you see on TV, but also because I didn't really understand much about it. But after several months of sleepless nights and things gradually getting worse, I decided to give it a go.
We are born with only a handful of instinctive survival behaviours and responses. Everything else that we know and have ever known, is learned behaviour, either through deliberate learning or as a result of our experiences. The various events that we encounter in life and the memories that we create, can sometimes lead us to form behaviours and responses which are not always helpful or useful.
Only a small part of an iceberg is visible above the surface of the water and this is similar to the Conscious mind; the part of the mind which is responsible for everyday thoughts, analysing information and making decisions. Below the surface is the Subconscious mind; the much larger part of the mind which deals with memories, emotions and the autonomic nervous system.
Counselling and Talking Therapy is about working together to make the changes that you need to achieve the outcome that you want. This integrated approach to therapy means that I will work with you as an individual, enabling you to explore your feelings and situation at your own pace.
Talking Therapy and Counselling sessions are often suited to situations where you may be experiencing difficulties in your life such as low self esteem, anxiety, relationship difficulties or bereavement.Working with and resolving issues can often be achieved in a fairly short course of sessions and some issues may sometimes require longer term therapy.
