Dereham Leisure Centre
We are excited to let you know that most of our centres in England and Wales have now fully opened. The "Promising Athletes Programme" has been put in place to support talented athletes living locally to one of our leisure facilities in England and Wales. There are several health benefits for children returning to swimming lessons, however health benefits play a secondary role in what swimming lessons actually achieve.

Download our app to keep up to date with everything that's going at Leisure Centre, including hints and tips on staying healthy and active at home.

Disappointed you have to pay for parking. Facilities are good. Small pool. Parents queueing for the pool block access to the gym. Staff at reception are really helpful and friendly.

Just started a week now, a few housekeeping issues the fitness studio floor needs a good clean. The Corona Virus is still here people 🙄 cleanliness, cleanliness, cleanliness. I also attended a Zumba class. No instructions given during the class, when the class was over the instructor just disappeared...not even a goodbye or have a nice weekend....at £51 a month I expect better. Hopefully the floors in the fitness rooms will be cleaned this weekend 😬

Went for the first time in 2 years.
Took my two children with me and we went into the small pool.
It was really cold. As previously the learning pool has always been warm.

Please beware that this organisation uses the services of a parking Stasi, going by the name of Parking Eye.
We popped along to discuss with the receptionists about opening times for public swimming lessons, this took around 15 minutes. So the total time in the car park was 16 minutes.
This has resulted in a fine of £100. Ouch!!!
Maybe we shall take our custom elsewhere, and I recommend you bear this in mind should you also consider using this facility.

So my 3 year old had his first swim lesson today, he was the only one there, I assume not many people know about it yet. Started at 9am (monday) he was quite nervous but the lady teaching was lovely and made it fun. I definitely recommend.

The swimming lessons are 25 minutes and despite this the teacher try somehow to cut from this time few minutes at the beginning and at the end.
I noticed last week the manager but only verbal. No improvements.
Other disappointed situation was when reception some people ask for track and trace and others no. They are just selective.
The general impression is despite lockdown past the services should be at the same level as before, not just collecting money from customers.Sadddd.

I would never recommend swimming lessons to anyone. Last year I enrolled my son and he went there for 1 year. Initially there were 6 people in his class but slowly class size increased to 12. Each student would get max of 2 rounds of swimming session from the instructor in the allotted 30 mins time slot because of number of students. All the… students couldn’t even fit in one line. Looks like they are only interested in money.
Anyway my friend said management changed now and it is better. So I went to enroll on 30th May. I filled all the forms and during the form submission I was told

Fairly nice leisure centre. Main attraction is it’s pool but it has a gym, shower/locker room and rooms for extra activities/classes that are put on. Men’s showers are one shared space just to make you aware

Unhelpful and disappointing service. When speaking to management regarding booking a badminton court more than 2 days in advance ( which I have previously been allowed to do) words such as 'I have been allowed to get away with it' and 'you're not going to to be allowed' were used, suggesting that I'm trying to be dishonest. I would have thought as I was not informed of the pre booking policy in all the previous occasions that I have used and paid for the facility and have never received membership information, that some sort of goodwill (of 3 days) would have been

Be very careful when signing up for a membership.
I was collared by a membership assistant to join and if i am honest felt a bit pressured, nevertheless i put pen to paper and joined after being assured there was a cooling off period by the assistant.
I Cancelled the membership the day afterwards and two years later discovered they had issued a County Court Judgement against me!
Parkwood Leisure, who own the centres are not nice people to deal with, they are insensative and hide behind 'guidelines' so please please please tread very carefully.
