Anthony and Faith welcome you to the John Bunyan, a real family run country pub set in a picturesque location nestled in woodland on the edge of the new Heartwood forest. The pub was named after John Bunyan, a local preacher who wrote Pilgrims Progress and who preached and occasionally lodged in the cottage, the ruins of which are near the pub.

So the rules are over, we can now go back to ordering at the bar so no more phoning or apps. We can't wait to welcome you all back to normal. The pub has free wifi, a large outdoor seating area and large car park with plenty of grassed area for children to play on. The pub itself is adorned with over 700 plates and jugs and offers a selection of pub games including darts and shove halfpenny.

Walked over from Wheathampstead and met by very friendly bar staff who made a huge fuss over our dog. We only stayed for a quick drink (lovely draft IPA) but the food looked great so next time we'll plan for that too

A proper pub. Good food, friendly service. Lots of room outside and under cover, a bit small inside. Access via a narrow country lane!

Traditional, comfortable and friendly. Well prepared food. New, separator panels a bit intrusive. Hope they won't be needed for long.
