Wakefield AFC was formed in 2019 by a consortium of businessmen including former Sheffield Wednesday & Manchester United Goalkeeper, Chris Turner. Wakefield is the largest city in the UK without a professional football team and it is our mission to change that. Our First Team are currently playing as a Step 7 (Level 11) team and are registered in the Sheffield and Hallamshire County Senior Football League Premier.
Our First Team play home games at The Millennium Stadium, Post Office Road, Featherstone, WF7 5EN. We currently play in the Sheffield and Hallamshire County Senior League Premier which is Step 7 in the English football pyramid. Our home colours are red, white and blue.

The North Stand or Railway End is the newest part of the ground after originally being terracing it was replaced in 2014 with seated stands which were taken from Scarborough's McCain Stadium.The North-East corner houses the scoreboard. The Eastern side of the ground has two covered seated stands.
Wakefield A.F.C. is delighted to announce that the partnership with Featherstone Rovers has become even stronger with the club now launching "Wakefield A.F.C. Club Lottery" in partnership with The Featherstone Rovers District & Community Draw, with 50% of the proceeds going to Wakefield A.F.C. and 50% to Featherstone Rovers.
Wakefield AFC is delighted to announce a brand new partnership with Virtual Learning UK which will enable the club to offer a BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Sports Coaching and Development which is equivalent to 3 A Levels.

Based at our Development Hub at The Dorothy Hyman Stadium (Cudworth, Barnsley), learners can combine their studies with their love of football, training on a daily basis with UEFA qualified coaches to advance their football skills as well as their academic and personal progression.BTEC Students will also be part of our Wakefield AFC Junior Premier League Team, playing against some of the best academies around the UK.
The Academy has been created to bring more local players through the system in the hope that they progress to become First Team players for Wakefield AFC or elsewhere. The Academy will be overseen by former Doncaster Rovers Academy Coach, Shane Pallett, and it will give local footballers the chance to play football at a high-quality level and be mentored by esteemed coaches, such as Lee Crooks, Adam Lockwood and Chris Turner.
