Living in farmhouses is fun, but living in barns leys something to be desired. This team has had many a barnstorming performances, and they've managed to barn all of the hooligans from attending so that's good.

First-Hand Experience: I've been to see them at home a few times and my old friend played for them which I'll tell you about in a minute. I have masses of respect for Barnsley and they have a fantastic support base and a great stadium, but the team itself has always been a little uninspiring to me, and so I'll give them a 3 rather than a 4. I did enjoy seeing them

As a Sheffield United fan, I look forward to this away fixture, as it is nearby and we seem to be top of Barnsley's hate list at the minute. The atmosphere was aalright the Barnsley fans were infrequent but loud. As always our following made up for it's poor numbers with great vocal support even when we were losing and playing terribly.
Oakwell has a fair bit of character. It is a traditional four sided stadia with small office buildings in two of the corners. The ground is not eye candy, but is quite interesting. I prefer places like Oakwell to grounds such as the Keepmoat as these

Oakwell is very close to the centre of Barnsley and hosts many games, such as Barnsley vs Chelsea and soon to be Barnsley vs Manchester City! I enjoy watching matches at Oakwell and the atmosphere is great but when Barnsley got through to play Cardiff in the Semi-FInal of the FA Cup I had to queue up for 4 tickets for 7 hours and 30 minutes! It was just standing around for nearly 8 hours to get tickets, but that is football I suppose.

Anyway, if you do visit Barnsley, i do recommend you visit the ground as I can guarantee you will love it!

As a Sheffield United fan, Oakwell has always been a fairly local ground for me to visit to watch derby matches and Barnsley/England U21 matches alike.

The majority of the stadium was redeveloped in the 1990's, so has a fresh, but traditional feel to it. This of course is barring the West Stand, which by the looks of it has only recieved new seats in a large number of years!

Oakwell also encompasses several smaller venues on the site which form the facilities of the Barnsley FC Academy. These include an indoor training pitch, smaller stadium and several training pitches.
