Wetherby Osteopaths
Osteopaths are trained in "differential diagnosis" and by taking a detailed case history and listening to your story and assessing the way the structures around your painful/restricted area move in relation to one another (musculo- skeletal system).

This can determine whether you have symptoms or dysfunction arising from your muscular skeletal system, which may respond well to manual therapy, or if there is a more serious underlying problem that requires further investigation or referral. The Osteopaths examination and palpation may conclude that your symptoms may be musculo skeletal, but are originating from somewhere else in your body, not the site of your pain.

Tennis Elbow is often caused by overuse/repetitive strain, or a change in your usual pattern of use- causing damage of tendons around your elbow. In many people, symptoms improve over time just by stopping activities that bring on the symptoms. Studies have not yet confirmed the best way to treat tennis elbow.
The sciatic nerve is the longest nerve in the body, emerging from the lower part of the spine and continuing down through the buttock into the back of the leg and into the foot. Any irritation to the nerve will result in SCIATICA, causing one or more symptoms of pain, numbness and tingling in part or all of the nerve and may also cause weakness in the leg.
There are many types of nerve pain as our body is largely controlled by the nervous system. Many people will have at some time experienced nerve pain themselves, all be it a temporary entrapment such as a 'dead leg' from a blunt trauma or a 'dead arm' from sleeping awkwardly. Diabetes is the most common cause of peripheral neuropathy in the UK.
According to The Office for National Statistics (2014) the most common causes for absence from work were due to back, neck and muscle pain. Osteopaths see a lot of people with neck pain, the cause of which can be due to a variety of reasons. Muscles, ligaments, discs and joints can all cause neck pain and it can also be caused by wear and tear changes within your neck (see our section on arthritic pain).
There are a number or reasons for hip pain some of which can be helped by visiting an osteopath. Pain can come from a tight, strained or overused muscle in the hip or from the joint itself. Pain in the hip can sometimes be the result of an injury, it can be referred from the back or related to the way you move, stand and/or use your hip.

Lee Short is amazing. I've had pain in both feet for almost 7 years now (plantar's fascitis, amongst other things), and I finally found Lee after going to a private podiatrist who kindly recommended him due to my complex foot issues. After just one appointment, I was already walking better and with a great reduction in pain (through massaging and stretching the plantar fascia). Lee has now fitted me with inserts that should help get me walking even better. He is a miracle worker! And nice, too!
