Conceived from a love of fresh, Scottish fare, Balgove has become a hub for top notch locally reared, grown, stalked, caught, handmade, and prepared foods. In our humble opinion, Scotland is home to some of the world's best beef, game, seafood and produce. Instead of seeing this amazing food shipped off to the far corners of the globe, our desire is to keep it right here on home turf.
Everything we raise and grow on the farm travels just a few miles, at most, and ends up right here in the shop, ready for you to take home.

Services
At Balgove we take food very seriously and most certainly favour 'living to eat' over 'eating to live'; if you feel likewise then we'll get on very well. Advice upon entering the shop: grab a basket. Trust us, you'll need one. With so many irresistible products to choose from, you will undoubtedly run out of arm space as you make your way towards the till.
The free range cattle, pigs and sheep you see in the counter are raised on the very land that surrounds the Larder. When not grazing in the fields, their diet is supplemented with grains and pulses grown on the farm. We tend and care for these beasts at every stage of life, resulting in excellent animal welfare.
Simple, honest, fresh food. Good for the soul. Everyone welcome. Our dedicated Caf team start in the wee hours of the morning to bring you freshly prepared, handmade breakfasts, lunches and indulgent treats. We care a great deal where our food comes from and wherever possible, we use home grown, home reared, and local produce.
The name says it all. The menu: Steaks, hung for no less than 28 days, burgers and sausages made here in our butchery, all cooked to order on our massive wood-fired BBQ. Add twice fried chips, or crispy beer battered onion rings, wine and local beer and enjoy. Complete the experience a little something sweet and perhaps a wee espresso.
Fancy a slice (or six)? Normally we are all about slow food. Pizza might just be the one exception! Equipped with two blistering hot, traditional wood fired ovens, the Pizza Box, is churning out the most beautifully delicious thin crust pizzas. And what better way to celebrate local Scottish produce than on a pizza?

Well worth a visit. Very high quality produce in the shop. We had lunch at the café. The service was efficient but also very friendly. The quality of the food was excellent. The St Monan's Smoked Fish Chowder and the generous slice of carrot cake are to be particularly recommended. Ample parking on-site. If you are close to St Andrews this farm enterprise is definitely worth a visit.

By far, this is one of my favourite restaurants to eat at for breakfast 🥞, lunch 🥗 or dinner 🍽. This farm to table restaurant, farm shop, butcher, cafe, steak 🥩 barn, and flower 🌺 shop is conveniently located, beautifully situated outside of St. Andrews in the Kingdom of Fife. There is plenty of parking spots available. Sometimes getting seated to eat takes a few moments, but the wait is well worth it. I love to stop in for the freshly prepared soup 🥣, hard bread 🥖 and a coffee ☕️. The desserts 🍪🍰 are indulgent and a definite must! Whenever possible, the expert team

Great place to hang out. Staff was very friendly and food was very very tasty. We had to wait 30 minutes to get a table but that wasn't a problem because we're we're able to get done drinks and hang outside while waiting for a table. Ordered some appetizers that were amazing. My steak turned out cooked the way I wanted. Everyone enjoyed their dinner.

A great stop right outside of St Andrews. The farm shop has a wide selection of high quality local produce and drinks as well as home decor items and a bar, restaurant, cafe and flower shop. All the details and decor feel very well thought out and the produce carefully selected. It can be pricey but generally good quality. The staff are very welcoming as well.

A wonderful provisions store that we unfortunately found late in our weeklong trip to St. Andrews. All of the meat and produce are fresh and reasonably priced. And the Steak Barn is phenomenal. They cook the steaks over large, hot charcoal fires - a classic style. We will come back here the next time we’re in Scotland.

A special Scottish experience . The store has fresh local produce, meats and hand crafted Scottish gifts. You can purchase the local Eden Mill Golf Gin or whiskey to take home. We did not eat in the restaurant but later in the steak barn. My husband and I decided to split the sirloin and ordered the chicken kabobs as a starter. Large tender portion. We also added the fresh spinach and onion rings. Plan to make this an annual tradition when visiting our student in St Andrews.

A great market for finding a specialty food or beer. Cheeses, meats, gourmet spices, etc....the fresh breads looked delicious and if you get hungry walking around the market just head over the the barn next door. Incredible steaks and daily specialties at reasonable prices. Check out my picts as that'll better describe this amazing and unique market/restaurant

Found out about this place while we were at Eden Brewery for a beer tasting event.
There is a Steak Shack on site which serves tasty tasty meat in a giant shed.. not the warmest place to sit on a slightly blowy day, but the onion rings were worth it!
The actual larder store is amazing, stocked with all sorts of tasty treats from cordials to gin, fresh meat to spice rubs.. it really could be a one stop shop! If only we had a car, I probably would've bought the entire store.. so it's probably a good thing we didn't have a car...
