Services
I am the proprietor of the Axe & Compasses in Braughing and have been working in the catering industry for many years. Perhaps you share my belief that many years of mass production and distribution of foodstuffs has resulted in poor appreciation of the value of good locally grown produce, meat and dairy products.
Impromptu decision to pop out for a quick bite to eat and, not for the first time, we head to the Axe and Compass. Why do we always go back? Because they care, they care about the service, they care. Knowing that we would be in the area, I took the trouble to read reviews of the various places in and around Ware to eat and the Axe and Compasses kept cropping up with consistently good reviews, so we paid.
Braughing is a historic village and civil parish situated between the rivers Quin and Rib in East Hertfordshire. Braughing's history dates back to pre-Roman times with many artifacts and buildings that are very old indeed. One such building is the St Mary the Virgin church which dates back to medieval times and dominates the landscape of Braughing.

Situated in a picturesque village, there is a car park at the side. There is a good welcome, and the pub is clean, and comfortable. A good English menu with choice of small or larger plates of food, it was all well cooked. Nice selection of deserts. Service was very attentive, and we felt very comfortable. The ladies was very clean and well equipped. A traditional English pub worth a visit.
