The Anchor Inn is a family-friendly country pub offering a warm welcome, tasty food, quality drinks and comfortable accommodation, all in the wonderful surroundings of our 15th century manor house. Set in the heart of Ashdown Forest, home of Winnie-the-Pooh, our guests are spoilt for choice whether they want to explore the great outdoors in the summer or snuggle up next to one of our open fires in the winter.
Services
When you visit Hartfield you'll immediately get a feel for the age of the village, with some buildings (including the Anchor Inn) dating back five or six hundred years. There are signs of trade happening in Hartfield thousands of years ago with archaeological finds of flint imported from the South and North Downs.
We pride ourselves on serving a range of delicious, seasonal British food and drink. Our lunch menu offers a selection of snacks to suit those who are just passing through and more substantial dishes for those who have the time to linger over lunch. And our Sunday roasts are a firm favourite. To accompany your meal, or if you're just popping in for a quick pint, we have an excellent wine list as well as a variety of beers and spirits.
Please note that we no longer offer a take away delivery option. If you enquire by telephone and we have staff available, we shall try to oblige where possible, but this is not guaranteed. All our pizzas are 11 served on hand stretched sourdough bases with San Marzano Tomato Passata and your choice of best quality ingredients.
The Anchor Inn is the perfect base for exploring Hartfield and the surrounding area. Whether you're planning on holidaying here in Winnie-the-Pooh country, or simply staying for a night of your walking or cycling tour, you'll receive a warm welcome at the Anchor Inn. We have four country-styled rooms available, all of which are en suite and the perfect place to rest your feet after a day exploring.
With this in mind we have regular events such as themed food nights (try Fresh Fish Friday), quizzes and live music. Keep an eye on our events information or follow us on Facebook for the latest updates. You're also welcome to hire our dining area and bar for private events during the day or evenings.

Just like to say that Friday 3rd was the first time I’ve been into the Anchor Inn for a birthday party and have to say the food, staff and atmosphere of the place was amazing from start to finish. The staff were so attentive and amazing, headed by Kate and Ben made sure everything was en-point. The food OMG was amazing. I and four others had the lamb which was incredible as was the rest of the food, all prepared by Johnny the head chef and landlord. Thank you and I will recommend to anyone thinking of great food, service and atmosphere xx

Went here for a family meal to celebrate a birthday waited for 1 and a half hours to receive our food, no one came to offer us drinks aside from the first round we ordered. They delivered 3 starters that we had specifically asked to be served with the mains without any cutlery.
A member of staff then came up to us and apologised for the delay… after it was brought to their attention they said they had been busy and it wasn't there fault even though we had prebooked a table and asked us if we would like a free round of drinks or some money knocked off the meal, we asked for the latter as
