Services
Downside Nursery is a private, independent day-care nursery school in Cobham, Surrey with a 35 year reputation for high quality pre-school care and education. Downside Nursery School continues to be the first choice amongst many parents, for this very important first step in their children's educational and social development.
We provide a wide range of activities and experiences for children, and there are extensive resources for their use inside and outside our nursery. Through a combination of play, creative activity and structured sessions each child is encouraged to develop knowledge, skills and understanding in a range of areas.
The nursery is open 5 days each week during term time, as well as additional holiday school weeks during the holidays; please see below for session times and prices. Basic fees are 28 per session (a session is one morning or one afternoon) are calculated, and payable during the first week of term. Downside accepts payment by the Working Tax Credit system which enables you to pay fees via your employer and offers tax benefits.

This is an absolute gem of a nursery and my son loved every minute of it. Run by the loveliest of local families I had absolute faith my son was in the right hands with people who truly care. Not only that but he has learnt so much in the short year he was there - to this day he is still surprising me with nuggets of information which, when I ask him where he got it from, he simply answers 'Downside!' Let alone the fact he can count 1 - 10 in French! Activities are incredibly creative and capture the kids imagination and much time is spent in their INCREDIBLE and huge outdoor space. Downside Nursery is exceptional. My eldest daughter left there this summer after two very happy years and has settled into her primary school amazingly easily. I know this is down to the care, dedication, passion and quality of teaching she received at Downside which meant she was so well prepared for the next step. My son is still at Downside and his development has increased exponentially in the year he has been there; his language, his physical abilities and his socialisation have all been enhanced. I don’t even know where to start! My daughter went to Downside for 1 year before starting school and I wish we had found it sooner! Having been to a couple of local nursery’s Downside stood out above the rest by a country mile. It is a family run nursery that the owner and manager (mother and daughter) really do love working at, and the enthusiasm that they meet the children with every day is infectious. The huge range of activities they do is brilliant. The care and attention for each child is enormous. My daughter is now so confident and ready for school. I couldn’t recommend this nursery

Downside nursery is such a special place.
Staff are wonderful, so dedicated to the children but also to the families. They go above & beyond.
The range of activities they provide is amazing, the perfect mixture of fun learning. The outside space is also brilliant.
It really is such a happy place that all 3 of my children have adored. We feel lucky to have found it.

Our son only had time for one term at Downside, but it was the most rewarding term ever that made him develop and learn so much (more than a year and a half of previous nursery), and he's now very confident and ready for school in September.
We are so excited that our little one will start in September and have the privilege of two whole years of amazing care and education at Downside before it's her time to start school.

Downside Nursery is a truly exceptional pre-school in every single way. From the second our son started there, we saw him flourish - the staff there are absolute superstars and the care and support they offer to all the children is second to none. It really is a special place and as a family we feel so fortunate to have discovered it. Our daughter is already signed up to begin as soon as she is old enough - we feel incredibly lucky to have secured a place for her and can’t wait for her to begin her adventure in such a fantastic and caring nursery.

We moved to Cobham a couple of years ago and Downside nursery is one of the reasons why we have settled in so well into the community. The nursery has a unique warm “family” style atmosphere with a great sense of community. Our daughter settled in straight away as did our son who couldn’t wait to follow his sister in joining Downside. The owner and manager is passionate and dedicated in providing the best care and education for all the children. She is supported by an amazingly talented team who have been consistent through the time we have been at Downside. Both of our children have grown

Both of my children have attended Downside and absolutely loved it! It is a wonderful nursery and the staff provide a genuinely warm, caring and educational environment. My children have flourished in character and confidence as well as academically. As sad as it was to see them have to leave for school, they were so well prepared for it by Downside that they were absolutely ready for the transition. I cannot recommend highly enough.

Downside Nursery and it’s highly dedicated team of staff provide a lovely caring, intimate and nurturing environment that has given both our children the best of starts. In the three years our children have been at nursery they have both been so happy and only excited to be going in. The nursery have been fantastic with getting them school ready and their staff provide great feedback on their learning progress. The Sports Days in their lovely outdoor play area is always a huge highlight and lovely end to the academic year.

We visited Downside on the recommendation of our childminder, who is familiar with most of the nursery choices in Cobham. We thought it was fantastic from the outset, the staff are warm, welcoming, and passionate about the development and welfare of the Children. Downside it’s a genuinely nurturing environment and our boys are always excited to go there. We are delighted with how well they are both doing with their educational development, and the large outdoor space the Nursery has to offer is a real bonus for our energetic fellas.
