St Matthew's Church Of England Primary & Nursery Academy
On behalf of the staff and governors may I welcome you and your family to our school website. Our school is now nearly 5 years old! We have been in a unique position that we have been able to appoint new staff who are all committed to developing the team spirit and family feel of the school, where staff, governors and parents work closely together to provide an environment where all will be able to let their lights shine.

Above all, it is our aim to provide a safe, secure and caring environment for all who come here. St. Christopher's Multi Academy Trust is a growing family of 17 church and community schools across Devon, serving nearly 3500 children and their families. We aim to equip and enable all our schools to be flourishing communities, underpinned by our values of Collaboration, Humility, Respect.
Services
As physical tours will be limited this year, we have a homemade school tour to give you a flavour of the many wonderful things our school does and to give prospective parents a chance to hear from the Reception staff and to see the learning environment. On behalf of the staff and governors may I welcome you and your family to our school website.
St. Matthew's, as a 'gift of God', aims to serve the community and the common good by providing an education of the highest quality within the context of Christian beliefs and practice. We offer strong leadership with an approach which provides a broad and balanced curriculum that fosters all elements of children's growth as learners.
We are part of St Christopher's Multi Academy Trust, and our delegated authority and responsibilities are clearly defined by the MAT board of directors. Governors are all volunteers with different skills and experience, but have a commitment to education and the schools, children, staff, parents and carers.
We are a thriving and busy setting and have new children regularly joining our nursery family. Our provision is for children from three years old. Children can join us following their third birthday. Parents are able to access up to 15 or 30 hours of Government funded sessions in the term following their third birthday.
Our youngest pupils are taught according to a specially designed curriculum, the Early Years Foundation Stage. This curriculum runs from Birth- 5 years and children through this curriculum during their time in Nursery and then seamlessly continue on this learning journey as they enter Reception. The curriculum consists of seven areas of learning.
