The Cleave
Welcome to The Cleave Restaurant & Bar a 15th century thatched inn set in the beautiful village of Lustleigh on Dartmoor Devon. We only use the freshest ingredients from local suppliers and farms from fish to meat lovingly created into mouth watering dishes by our head chef. Enjoy the finest real ales from the South West and our selected wines to compliment your food.

We are dog friendly where they are welcome in the bar and when the sun shines in the beer garden or by the log fire when the evenings get a little chilly. With a well thought out wine list to compliment the food, along with a high level of service, one can look forward to good simple food cooked to perfection and something just that little bit special.

We tried to book a table for ten for a meal and were told this was too many people for his staff to cope with, after explaining that we have just been to spread the ashes of a dearly loved family member the landlord had absolutely no sympathy for this at all. If I could give this establishment 0 stars I absolutely would!!!

Not a good experience. The sunday lunch was very unimaginative and bland. Very limited sides and a watery gravy. The chips the children had must of been from frozen. The landlord was also rude. When we asked him if we could order more drinks, he looked at us as if we had asked something offensive and said he was very busy. If you are running a pub you don't make your customers feel bad. We paid the bill and left. If this pub wasn't in such a pretty village i wonder...

First time visiting. I felt Covid safe the food and drink was lovely and it had a welcoming feel. A modern taste in an old country pub. We shall definitely be returning soon!

This is a great pub. We stayed here in August and despite being very busy, the staff looked after everyone really well. Food is regular pub dishes but all were good. Beer and cider is excellent. It had a really nice garden and is in a lovely village with great walking in all directions.

Idyllic pub, in an idyllic village, on the edge of idyllic Dartmoor. Wish it was my local. Had lunch here last week in the pretty beer garden on a glorious September day. Calamari were quite incredible, I could have stuffed them down until they came out of my ears! Pan-fried venison haunch with red wine and juniper jus was also an absolute triumph. The dogs usually get a wee tidbit, but this was just too tasty, so I gobbled it all up much to the hounds' consternation. I was a bit surprised to tell you the truth about how good the food was as I think I've become so used to pub food being rather

My Husband rang at 9.30am on Sunday and they had just had a cancellation so we were able to book a table for 12.00 midday.
We were greated by a waitress and I would think the manager.
We were asked if we wanted to sit inside or outside and we chose inside. We were given the drink and food menus and given a few minutes to browse. The waitress then took our drink and food order. The drinks came almost straight away and the starter (salt and pepper squid) which we shared came very soon after...it was piping hot and very tasty!
We both ordered roast for our main meal and it was delicious!! The veg

Beautiful place in the most stunning location. We walked from Bovey Tracey to Lustleigh and were treated to one of the best pub lunches we have had. The food was delicious, I highly recommend the burgers. Will definitely be returning.

A charming little hamlet with lovely scenery including an apple orchard. The food was fantastic and Covid guidelines were well worked. Great beer garden or sit inside amongst the beautiful building and fireplaces. A must visit for all the family and dog friendly. We will be returning soon.

Lovely pub with good home cooked food, nice ales and friendly staff. It’s just opposite the church with parking outside.
We reserved a table earlier in the day and I am glad we did as it was pretty busy mid week.
The food couldn’t be faulted, and the service was well timed, relaxed and friendly.
The restaurant is a good size with plenty of space between tables and a good atmosphere.
Reasonably priced for good quality food.
