Robin Bean and Mark Riddick purchased the long established Brookside Cafe & Restaurant in Bovey Tracey, Devon, in 2004. Having previously sold the award winning Five Bells Inn at Clyst Hydon, they set about transforming Brookside into the popular establishment it is today. The partners have been in the hospitality industry for over 35 years and have a reputation for high standards, professionalism and friendly welcome.

One, if not both can be seen most days in the restaurant, both believing in working hands-on and meeting their valued customers. The Head Chef is the highly trained and talented Phil Brough - a local man who is passionate about cooking and using only the finest local ingredients to produce the food that the customers want.

Caffe Latt A blend of Espresso and steamed milk, crowned with a full layer of foamed milk. Cappucino A blend of Espresso, steamed & foamed milk with a sprinkling of chocolate on top. Pot of traditional tea with milk or lemon Decaffeinated, Earl Grey, Lady Grey, Assam, Darjeeling, Green, speciality herbal or fruit teas.

We travel from our home in Looe to eat here and we love it . Its always impeccably clean and the owner is such a lovely happy man and so caring for his customers. The food is second to none beautifully fresh and well cooked and a really wide lovely choice. The staff are amazing and we will continue to eat here regularly , 5 ☆ highly recommend to anyone

Nice welcoming cafe, great menu, good range of nice cakes, worth a visit. Car park is small, so might struggle to get in at peak times, but loads of on street parking in nearby roads

My father, his girlfriend and I often come here for Sunday lunch before heading up to Dartmoor for a couple of hours. They're exceedingly welcoming and friendly. The food is always delightful (it can sometimes tend to towards slightly smaller portion sizes) but, I would say the prices are definitely worth it especially for the utterly wonderful and kind staff.

First time here and it's such a lovely cafe to have a cuppa or munch on brunch. The menu has plenty of options and the staff are very friendly. They have indoor and outdoor seating with freshly made cakes for your mouth to salivate over. Highly recommended if you are in the area. It can be busy but worth the wait!

Pretty good overall, tasty BLT with decent fresh salad and crisps, prices reasonable for a tourist spot. Breakfast menu a little exotic, but most items served till mid afternoon, though not a bacon sandwich, service more than adequate and nice to sit in the garden. Recommended.

Called in for a quick snack after a walk. The food was great. We both had the sausage baguette. Fantastic quality sausage and bread. Excellent, friendly staff and the toilets were spotless.

Love it. Great breakfast cooked to perfection. Staff so pleasant, helpful and polite. Not the cheapest place aroind, but I think good value and you get what you pay for.
