Karen's Cakes high street studio and bakery is situated in the Hertfordshire market town of Bishops Stortford. We are professional cake makers with over 40 years experience within the baking and cake decorating industry. Our shop doors first opened in Waltham Abbey, Essex in 1987 and since that time we have baked and decorated somewhere in the region of 35,000 celebration cakes, 3500 wedding cakes and more cupcakes than we care can count!
Someone once said "a celebration is not a celebration without a cake!" So if like us you feel the same way, we are confident no matter the occasion you will find something awesome here to fit the bill. Remember as you browse through our unique designs there are many ways to personalise your order from size, flavour, colours and inscription and in some cases you can even add an edible photograph.

Just fantastic!! So pleased with the cake I ordered for my daughter’s 18th. Ordering process was really straightforward and they communicated with me to alleviate any concerns about it being ready. Collected at the allotted time and all covid friendly. Finally the cake looked and tasted amazing and it’s not easy to please a teenager !!! Thank you

What an absolute pleasure to leave a review, I can not recommend Karen’s cakes enough. I was a damsel in distress as I had been let down with my wedding cake. I decided to contact Karen and found her really… pleasant and helpful. I found a wedding cake on her website I really liked. It was made so beautifully and tasted wonderful! So many compliments from my family and friends. Great communication and it was delivered nice and early to the venue on the wedding day. Thanks for a perfect service ☺️

Ordered my son’s first birthday cake here. Excellent Service, great variety to choose from and customisation options offered. Order form online was really easy to do, very simple and follow up emails explaining collection process during COVID-19 lockdown were clear and concise. Collection on the day was efficient and hassle free. Most importantly, the cake was amazing. Looked even better than the pictures online and tasted great. Little man loved it. We’ll be back next year for sure 😀

Yet again another winner. Karen made a celebration cake for us at short notice. The ordering process was simple and easy to follow. Due to Covid19 restrictions I needed to arrange a collection time and the process was quick and efficient with social distancing measures in place in the shop.
We have used Karen for our cakes for over 20 years and yet again she didn’t disappoint. We’ve had fairy castles to sponge bob and a stack of pancakes (cake) in between. The attention to detail is sheer perfection.

We have been having cakes for 18 years and never been disappointed. This year for my daughter's 16th another amazing cake. We have had castles, horses head, rugby pitches and rugby ball. cakes are amazing and a family favourite. If we need a last minute cake for a friend or cupcakes to take as a treat we have always been accommodated. The taste is like nothing you will taste from a supermarket and icing not too sweet. My husband will ask for a dozen cupcakes than a present that goes in a draw.

I have ordered many big cakes and cupcakes over the past 7 years from here. big cakes are always exactly as the picture. Had some cupcakes again just the other day for the first time in a while for my daughter's birthday. as always amazing cakes. tasted absolutely delicious. And no matter how full up We are from party food. there is always room… for one or 2 of these beauties . No one in my house, be it family or guest has ever refused cake from Karen's cakes. I would recommend both chocolate and vanilla. i would not go anywhere else for my cakes .

Highly recommend Karen's Cakes. We have been ordering our cakes from Karen since 2002 when she made our beautiful 5 tier wedding cake. It is our go to cake shop and can't say how many cakes we've ordered over the past 18 years. They taste even better than they look which is an amazing talent.
