Services
Welcome to Dartmoor View Lodges at South Trew, situated in the beautiful Devon countryside, just a few hundred yards outside of the village of Highampton. We are a small and private holiday 'complex' with only 3 unique lodges - where you are assured of a personal service as well as having a peaceful holiday or a short break.
We have two daughters who have now left home, so we decided to embark on a new adventure of our own. In 2015, we ended up at Dartmoor View Lodges, a delightful site in a wonderful part of the country. We are about 10 miles off the north-west corner of Dartmoor and enjoy stunning, uninterrupted views across the Devon countryside towards Dartmoor.
Perfectly situated, nestled in the beautiful mid Devon countryside, overlooking the Dartmoor hills and between the 2 coastlines of Bude, Ilfracombe, Lynmouth and Minehead to the North and from Helston, Looe, Plymouth, Torquay and the Jurrasic Coast to the South. All are within driving distance, so you can be sure that you'll find something for everyone on a Dartmoor View Lodge holiday.
Our lodges have been awarded with a 4 star rating by our partner agent Sykes Cottages. It means they were examined very carefully and you can be assured of a good quality lodge to stay in. The quality of the furnishings and linen is extremely high and is replaced regularly.
Experience a completely different holiday that will make you feel closer to nature with all your home comforts in a cosy log cabin, set in a peaceful idyllic environment with fantastic views of the Dartmoor hills.Perfect for a unique relaxing break!

Bluebells is a lovely self-catering lodge at Dartmoor View Lodges, which has always been a 'non-pet zone'. A brand new kitchen was installed in 2019 and a shower-room upgrade has just been completed. The veranda upgrade was also completed during 2020. The main bedroom has a kingsize bed and the second bedroom is a twin but can be configured to also accommodate a small child in a cot/toddler bed.

We stayed in the Bluebells Lodge lasy week. The lodge itself is beautifully presented, comfortable and very well equipped - we were delighted with it. And to top it off the views across to Dartmoor are stunning. The owner - Andrew - was friendly and helpful and communications before, during and after our trip were responsive, clear and efficient. Highly recommended.

This place was fabulous. Lodge was located with 2 others overlooking fields and 20 miles of countryside. Everything you needed was in this lodge - just needed to take clothes and food.! Quality of the lodge was beautiful. Owner was very friendly, didn't bother us but willingly helped if needed. Lovely rural area of Devon with local walks. Couldn't fault it. Only thing missing was a tea cosy for the teapot - a petty observation compared to the fantastic time we had there. Definitely recommended if you like peace and countryside.

Just returned from a wonderful week in Buttercups lodge. We received complimentary milk, tea bags, coffee and cake on arrival, adding to the very warm welcome from Andrew and Sally. The lodge has everything you could need, including a newly fitted kitchen and games for children. The field within the ground is ideal for dog exercise, being fenced in and leading to a quiet cycle lane. Hatherleigh is a small town close by which has a Coop and an excellent fish & chip shop. Other places of interest we found were Dingles Vintage Fair, Valley of rocks & Lynton and the Exmoor pony centre. The owners were

Lovely lodges in a lovely location with great hosts. We took two lodges this August for us and our extended family and had a very comfortable and relaxing time. Everything we needed was available and if it was not the owners were keen to stress that we only needed to ask them.
The only grip was the weather, couple of days of showers, but sitting on the covered veranda area listening to the rain was nice.
Certainly would like to stay again and more than happy to recommned to others.

My wife and I fancied a quiet weekend away and saw these lodges advertised and thought they sounded just the thing so made a last minute online booking. The owners, who it turned out are relatively new, replied very quickly and everything was sorted in no time. When we arrived they greeted us warmly and were very friendly.
The lodge itself was very clean and well fitted out with all quality equipment right down to the sheets and towels. A particular feature we liked was the log fire, lovely and cosy in the evenings. We could also sit on the veranda and enjoy stunning views towards Dartmoor.
