Monks Premier Spa is named after a monastery, built on the Machynys Peninsula by St Piro during the 6th century. Translated from the Welsh language 'Machynys' means 'Monks Island' a meditative Island retreat. Prior to the erection of the Sea defence wall Machynys was inundated with the incoming tide creating Monks Island on which the monastery sat.

Had a lovely afternoon tea with processco, the food was delicious, had the best carrot cake l have ever tasted, the savouries were exceptional, the whole thing was very well balanced. We were very well looked after by the lovely staff, even the chef came out to check our requirements. Can't wait to go again

Fabulous facilities, delicious food, attentive staff and a genuinely wonderful spa day. The robes and towels were a great bonus. We all really managed to switch off. The hot stone massage is a must for anyone considering it if you have some knots then this will sort them out. My shoulders and neck feel like they've been released. Thank you.

Visited twice this week, for evening meal and breakfast, both of which were lovely.
Easy to park, stairs and lift available.
On the downside, it was ridiculously hot both times. No windows or doors open, in these Covid times.
Mentioned it to the staff ,who stated, the manager wanted the fire lit at all times, and that there was underfloor heating.

Terrible service, arrived at 2pm sat down with 3 others and waited for 20 mins for someone to take our order, after waiting this long I approached one of the many waitresses just drying glasses and putting them away, I asked if she could take our order which was abruptly replied with “ I be with you in a minute” order was finally taken and we waited for our drinks, 35 minutes later another waitress comes to take our order, I replied by saying Iv placed an order 35 mins, after checking there was no order placed and the waitress which I now know was called COBWEBB took our order but then finished

Enjoyed a Spa Day and lunch with friends to celebrate a birthday. Very organised, and intimate spa with lovely clean facilities. The massage was relaxing and the staff were very friendly. Lunch was excellent, with gorgeous views over the golf course and lougher estuary. I will certainly be booking again.

Late decision to have Sunday lunch out meant a frantic ring-round only to find everywhere I called was booked until 3pm. As a last ditch attempt to find somewhere I called the Machyns Golf Club and (after a couple of attempts which went unanswered) managed to get a table for 2 for 2pm. So far so good.
We had been to the Club for a sandwich and glass of wine previously but had not tried the revamped Frederick's Brasserie.
Arrived on time and found it busy but not crowded out. The waitress, Sarah (?) apologised in advance for any delay in service we may encounter as she was working the whole

Called today for breakfast at 10.50 to be informed it was no longer being served no alternatives and the lunch menu would be available from 12.00 Cannot see anywhere on the website the serving hours. Not a warm welsh welcome as previously encountered as we have been visiting Machynys since it opened both for golf and food

Visited today for Sunday lunch, the first sunday lunch service since reopening and it was outstanding. the waiters were amazing and couldn't do enough for you. The meal was the nicest I have tasted for a long… long time. The head chef came to our table to introduce himself and ask how our meal was, so impressed today. I highly recommend!!

Such a good layout and always offers a great test. I’ve played Machynys a few times now in just about every weather condition and in the open week it was probably the best. Warm, dry, slight breeze. Still beaten up by the course! For me I’d prefer some speed in the greens. They are huge and undulating and the surfaces were smooth and true - just too slow for my preference. Worth a trip, you’ll do well to shoot your handicap here - especially off the back tees.
