Sitting by the waters edge, The Haxey Gate is a welcome retreat for all including walkers, boaters, campers and cyclists. Set in between the picturesque villages of Misterton and Haxey, with fishing on the river and a campsite across the road it is no wonder that many people choose to visit us and stay time and time again.
If camping is not your thing, en-suite rooms are also available on site with plenty of free parking available. The pub itself serves a wide range of hot and cold drinks including cask ales and spirits. Home-cooked food is served daily from 12 noon and a Sunday Carvery is available each week throughout the year.

Services
We are fortunate that the pub sits beside one of the most beautiful spots on the River Idle. With such an enviable stretch of the river Idle, The Haxey Gate is the perfect place for that relaxing fishing break you have been promising yourself! Despite being nestled in the heart of the countryside, there are still plenty of attractions to visit nearby!

Recently stayed across the road at Haxey Quays caravan and camping park So had a wonder over to the Haxey gate, It was really nice. Dinner time had the small lasagne with Homemade chips, They were gorgeous. So Crispy And so we're the portion of onion rings we had. Small meal option for £6.00 was fantastic value. We went back at night. Steak with peppercorn sauce and a Hunters chicken were both delicious. With those fantastic Crispy home made chips again. Photos below are of the dinner time small menu

Good range of beers and a wide menu, including a selection of extremely good value "specials". Friendly staff and an interesting building with distinctly different areas to sit. I don't live in the area but have been to this pub with family over the years. Always a warm welcome and good food, and the beer is moderately priced at around £3.30 for a premium pint. Last visit : late November 2021.

I haven't been here for a few years and the last time I did it was impeccable and this time was no different! I called to see if I needed to book and was told no need and to turn up. When I arrived the lady who I suspect to be the landlady said are you the person who rang up and we had a nice chat. I had rib eye steak, onion rings and chips for the main and the steal was cooked to perfection and very very tender, it shames steaks twice the price.. The staff were extremely polite with the server and waiter been very nice. I would not hesitate in recommending this gem to anyone who wants a lovely

We had a great evening here, we sat outside as a family (with dogs). The food was lovely, the service was friendly and timely.
We had fish and chips and the kids had kids meals which were great quality too. There were lots of water bowls out for the dogs. The bar overlooks the canal and has a very picturesque setting. I'd highly recommend.
