Midland Air Museum
The Midland Air Museum as it is today represents many years of dedicated commitment by our volunteers and staff who have helped to establish one of the country's leading self-funded independent aviation museums. We believe it is very important that our museum provides the opportunity for visitors of all ages to experience the world of aviation in a friendly and informal environment.

In 2008 we acquired the status of a Nationally Accredited Museum which is a recognition of our achievements over many years. This award is one that we are very proud of and is also a benchmark for our ongoing future development. May I take this opportunity on behalf of the Staff and Volunteers of the Midland Air Museum to welcome you to the Museum and would like to thank you for your support.
Services
The Museum is located near Baginton Village on Rowley Road, adjacent to the northern boundary of Coventry Airport, south of the A45. We're easy to find and the Museum is well signposted from the A45. Once on the road between the A45 roundabout and Baginton village you can't miss us, or our Vulcan!
Local aviation history is strongly featured in the Wings Over Coventry gallery on the mezzanine floor of the main hangar, showcasing products from local manufacturers, particularly Armstrong-Whitworth who had a factory adjacent to the airfield's southern boundary from 1936 onwards; Armstrong-Siddeley (and successors Bristol-Siddeley and Rolls-Royce) who produced aero engines at their sites at Parkside, Quinton Road and Ansty from 1920 onwards; Humber who built both aeroplanes and aero engines at their Stoke site; Alvis who built aero engines in Holyhead Road and tested them at Baginton and, of course, Dunlop, makers of aircraft wheels, tyres, brakes and other systems at their sites in Hillfields and Holbrooks and later at Fort Dunlop in Birmingham.
We have a well-stocked shop selling model kits, diecast models, toys, books, magazines, paintings, prints, posters etc. Take a break during your tour, and sit down in the warm and cosy Argosy Tea Room - have a bite to eat and then continue at your leisure. We offer a menu of light snacks and refreshments including hot and cold drinks, toasted sandwiches with various fillings and cakes.
The Museum has a regular programme of events including Open Cockpit Days, Model Fairs and Shows and Aviation Art Exhibitions. We enjoy a very close relationship with the Midland Regional Guild of Aviation Artists and now hold a bi-annual art exhibition, the largest of its kind outside London.

Our inaugaral exhibition was opened by Mr Alex Henshaw and successive exhibitions have been opened by Councillor Ram Lakha (deputy Lord Mayor of Coventry), Mr Ian Whittle (son of Sir Frank Whittle), Mr Michael Turner (President of the Guild of Aviation Artists and world renowned artist himself) and, most recently, Sir Peter Rigby (Chairman of Coventry Airport Ltd.)
We are pleased to provide a paid research service - please detail your enquiry and we will be pleased to let you know whether we can assist and quote the likely fees involved. We endeavour to respond to emails within a day or two but if your enquiry is urgent it is best to phone us. We will do our best to respond to enquiries on Facebook and Twitter as and when workload permits, but if your enquiry is urgent it really is best to phone the Museum.

A very eclectic collection of aircraft, engines, air frame parts, artifacts, models of all shapes and sizes and types, all crammed in one large space, and then there are outdoor grounds where are variety of aircraft are parked. Lots to see, lots to read and immerse in. Big emphasis on jet engines, their history and development and all the aircraft are cold war jet era. Very interesting if you are an aviation enthusiast. Unusually they have several cockpits that you can climb into, including into the Vulcan that is parked outside ... for us this was the highlight of the visit!

Fantastic place to visit, so interesting. Not just a boring museum at all. Great example of so many planes that you can get quite close to. Quite an informal feel to the place and very interesting models too. A… good shop & coffee facilities too. We found the Vulcan bomber visit really interesting & informative. My 95yr old dad loved going into the cockpit

A nice museum with a wide variety of British aircraft (Avro Vulcan, de Havilland Sea Vixen, and a Gloster Meteor), along with some from different countries such as an RCAF F-101 Voodoo and a SAAB J-29F Tunnan. Also nice to see a de Havilland Vampire painted in Royal Auxiliary Air Force colors. They also have a well stocked gift shop and lots of old books. Well worth a visit.

At just under £8 for an adult this museum is a bargain. There is a lot to see so give yourself a good two to three hours to do it justice. At the entrance there are lots of models which you can buy and make up yourself once you are home. Once inside it is all well sign posted giving you a history of each and every item. Then when you go outside there you will see plenty aircraft of all descriptions. It was brilliant to get to sit in the cockpit of a Vulcan and listen to the story of the aitcraft. No body rushes you away you can stay as long as you like. There are staff on hand to answer any queries

Great museum with a nice selection of predominantly military aircraft. Though they do have a Vickers Viscount and a splendid Bristol Argosy. Staff are lovely too. Nice wee tea room on site serving sandwiches (highly recommended) and hot and cold drinks, cakes, crisps etc.

These small Air Museum always amazes me. You could spend a few hours easy enjoying the site. There is always a lot more than you think and the staff are brilliant. I did around four of these sites while down from Glasgow and easily the best in and most welcoming. Decent parking area and value for money. Even got into my first Vulcan cockpit although I got into my second half an hour later but thats the other Vulcan a few miles away. 😁 Great collection and shop.

Fabulous place really interesting and informed displays about general aircraft and then an entire display dedicated to Coventrys own history associated with aviation. Highlight was being able to go into the cockpit of the vulcan bomber. Incredible experience would highly recommend
