The Transport Museum Wythall
We are situated in north Worcestershire, just to the south of Birmingham near to M42 Juntion 3 so we're also handily placed for visitors from the West Midlands and further afield. The museum is home to over 90 buses. Midland Red, WMPTE blue and cream and the corporation fleets from Birmingham, Walsall, West Bromwich and Wolverhampton are all represented, plus local independent operators.

Our main event days feature free vintage bus rides running all day and a miniature steam railway for you to ride on, plus visiting buses and sales stands. For that special occasion such as a wedding, birthday or club outing why not book a vintage bus? Does you group need a day out or are you looking for a venue for your club's next meeting?
Services
All facets of the museum are staffed by volunteers who you can see restoring and maintaining the collections. The Museum was originally set up by the Birmingham and Midland Motor Omnibus Trust, formed in 1977 as a registered charity. Buildings were opened in 1980, 1990, 2007 and 2012 to meet the Trust's determination to have a roof over all its vehicles.
The preservation of old buses and coaches in the Midlands began in 1964. The veterans were kept in factory and farm yards, wherever a kindly soul could be found. Unfortunately, kindly souls would move on or local authorities turn unfriendly and the search would begin again for another home. Every so often ideas ran out and a vintage bus, priceless today, would have to be scrapped.
Transport Museum Wythall is pleased to include The Wythall Miniature Railway in its list of attractions. This ride-on miniature railway is operated by the Elmdon Model Engineering Society within the museum site, charging a supplement of 1 per ride for children of all ages above three and is great fun for all the family.
At slightly higher cost per head, a guided tour with optional refreshments will enhance your visit to the museum; as these are pre-booked we are happy to conduct these outside normal opening hours too. Minimum charges apply on guided tours, please advise your requirements and obtain a quotation through enquiries@wythall.org.uk or by post to Group Visits, The Transport Museum, Chapel Lane, Wythall, Worcestershire B47 6JA.
Our car park is free and has a number of designated accessible spaces on tarmac close to the Admission kiosk. The museum consists of two separate halls (The Power Hall and The Scania Hall), a toilets block and a separate building housing the shop and cafeteria. Everything is on one level and hard-surfaced.

If you like classic buses, you'll love the Wythall Transport Museum. It has a good range of buses from the 1920s onwards, especially in the 'classic' period of the 1940s to 1960s, and most have been immaculately restored. The collection focuses on the former large and innovative territorial bus company, Midland Red, also Birmingham Corporation Transport and those of other West Midlands cities.
Free rides are offered and there are informative displays about buses in their social context.

My Grandson and I really enjoyed the visit, we were both very impressed. Its a great shame that there is not enough space to display the preserved Busses a little better.

Absolute fab time spent here with grandsons here yesterday. Very much worth the small entrance fee. Loads to see and all staff/volunteers so friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. Homemade Cakes were a hit with the grandsons. Huge amount of photo opportunities. Loved ride on open top bus to Maypole (bit blowy but fab) Boys loved ride on miniature railway (additional £1 charge). Lovely 5 hours to finish off school holidays. We have a little gem hidden away in Wythall... so worth a visit.

Great day out for a young family. We took our two year old daughter who loves buses and she loved it. We got to ride the bus and the miniature train (my personal highlight). There were lots of things to read for people interested in the history of the transport. We just enjoying exploring.
