Our museum remains free entry to all and is usually open from 11 - 3 Thursday to Saturday from March until December. Come along and see our unique collections and have a chat to our enthusiastic volunteers. Smethwick Heritage Centre is located at the former park-keeper's lodge in Victoria Park. For over twenty five years we have collected artefacts, memorabilia and photographs connected to Smethwick's proud and distinctive heritage.
Our collection includes material relating to Smethwick industry, schools, council, shops, churches and more besides. Our most popular material is probably that relating to Smethwick's huge role in WW1 and 2.

Services
Smethwick Heritage Centre & Museum offers a chance to explore Smethwick's vast history. We are a volunteer run museum which also organises roadshows and events, normally free to the public, as well as specialist Talks & Plays which may incur a small charge to cover costs. The Museum is situated in the former Lodge in Victoria Park, where numerous pieces of memorabilia are housed and displayed.
The centre piece of the project will be the installation of a 'new' Anderson Shelter in our outer courtyard. The Anderson Shelter has become an iconic symbol of Britain under fire and will be the perfect way to commemorate the Home Front. There will also be a book and displays as part of the project.
Coming together is a beginning, staying together is progress, working together is success. The Centre welcomes Group Visits, which are preferred on our non-open days of Monday - Wednesday. Depending on the length of time you wish to stay with us we can add on other topics such as a guided tour of the nearby High Street area or a guided tour of the Council House and Council Chamber. A Near Run Thing (The Ladywood election battle of 1924 between Neville Chamberlain and Oswald Mosley).
