Fusiliers Museum Warwick
Visit the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers Museum (Royal Warwickshire) which tells the story of 350 years of history of the County Regiment, from its raising in 1674 to the Fusiliers of today. Greeted by a soldier of 1744 the story of the "Warwickshire Lads", from Private to Field Marshal, is revealed through an exciting mixture of real objects and interactives.

Lots to do for all the family - try on uniforms (a great photo opportunity!) and experience night vision. Discover stories about Hannah Snell, a female soldier; and the Regimental mascot, Bobby the antelope. Find out about the Regiments famous sons, notably Field Marshals Montgomery and Slim. See displays about both World Wars.
Services
You can dress in real military uniforms, listen to eyewitness accounts of the D-Day landings and learn about some of the Regiments' Famous Sons. Most famously these include Field Marshals Slim and Montgomery. It also looks at some of the people that the Royal Warwickshire Regiment fought against over the years.
Please note that the Fusilier Museum is situated on the first floor of St John's House. We apologise that there is no access except by stairs (there is no lift) to the first floor, because of the physical restrictions posed by this Grade I listed building. Visitors can get an idea about what the museum exhibition looks like from the Virtual Tour facility on a touchscreen on the ground floor.
There are four rooms in the museum, which is situated on the first floor of St John's House.* The museum shop offers a wide range of educational gifts for children at reasonable prices. The boxes contain different objects and ephemera. There are many real objects, but particularly the ephemera may be facsimile copies.
The museum specialises in enquiries relating to soldiers who served with the Royal Warwickshire Regiment as opposed to other units of the British Army. Although we can provide some general guidance on family history research (we have some useful addresses). We can also help with identifying medals, cap badges, interpreting military records and give advice on photos.
We are a small charitable museum (charity No. 272357) that receives no support from the local authority. The museum interprets the history and traditions of the Regiment from 1674 to today. The museum aims to preserve the unique collection in perpetuity.

The Museum reopened in 2001 following a major redisplay thanks to the generous support given to the Museum Appeal, a Heritage Lottery Fund grant and a kind donation from the King Henry VIII Charity. If you feel able to make a gift to the museum, it would help to ensure that the Museum can be enjoyed by future generations.

I have not as yet been able to visit the Museum but, as a volunteer researcher at the Devon and Dorset museum at the Keep in Dorchester I look forward to so doing as I am a great supporter of keeping our military history alive.

An excellent museum, it's got something for all ages and will engage both those that have only a passing interest in military history or those that want something more in depth.
