The most important function we perform is examining peoples' eyes from infants to the elderly. We will listen to any problems or symptoms you may be experiencing, and advise you to find the best possible solution. We are able to offer NHS or private examinations. We recommend you have an examination at least every 2 years (although this may vary, depending on age, from 3 months to 2 years).
Henderson Opticians are independent. That means we can choose from any spectacle lens available to match your individual needs and budget. The combination of our advice and the choice of the right lens can make your spectacles look and perform better than ever. Ideal choice for driving, water sports and skiing offering complete UV protection, with the added bonus of eliminating disabling reflected glare.
Whether choosing standard sunglasses or prescription protecting your eyes from UV rays is the single most important aspect. Sunglasses should block both UVA and UVB rays. Another important consideration is how much coverage the glasses offer. Even if the lenses protect you from UV, if they do not fit well enough to effectively block out unfiltered light from reaching your eyes, they are not performing properly.
Once we have decided what type of lens suits your prescription and your needs the next stage is to undertake a trial period with the chosen contact lenses. This will give you an idea of what it is like to have contact lenses in your eyes. If you decide not to go ahead after the trial assessment, no charge will be made apart from that of any necessary initial eye examinations undertaken.

I have been a customer at Hendersons for the past 3 years they helped me get to grips with using contact lenses and put a lot of time into this as I did struggle with them - Christine has recently helped me with some glasses that didn't fit correctly again she spent alot of time and effort to ensure I was happy with them - you don't get service like this from Specsavers! Highly recommended great local business Thankyou!

Very disappointed with the service we received ! my son had his eyes tested for the very first time at henderson opticians of holmfirth. We was told he was short sited so would need glasses. So being as this was first time anyone in our family needed glasses we didn't know that he entitled to a voucher with his first purchase. So just bought a cheep pair of glasses from hendersons the same day not knowing they used the voucher on that pair. The next day my son asked me if i could get him some brand name glasses so i took him to another opticians and found some glasses he liked for £60 with a NHS

I've been going to Henderson Opticians for annual checkups for a while now and every time they are really friendly and helpful. The last time I went was the first time I needed to actually get some glasses (unfortunately inevitable); they've got a good range of glasses to choose from and they were really helpful at picking out the right style for my face and the right pricetag for my budget. Very patient and took the time to explain everything someone new to glasses needed to know! Would definitely recommend.
