Lovely place, not too far away from Whitby if you have a car. Very traditional decor but recently refreshed with a light and airy colour scheme.
Check in was very warm, welcoming, professional and quick, the lady walked us to our room and showed us in which was really nice.
We had our evening meal in the restaurant, both having the steak pie with chunky chips, peas and gravy.... I'm quite picky about beef, but it was lean good cuts that were cooked until falling apart...beautiful, and the chips were just right too! Puddings were nice, though nothing outstanding.
For breakfast, we had the full

Excellent meal and friendly staff.
Had the Steak pie which was excellent. Very meaty with very good quality meat.
Desert was excellent too. Had Sticky Toffee first time and Bread and Butter pudding the second.
Highly recommend. Definitely will return.
Suggestion would be cheese and biscuits as an option to a sweet pudding.

Hi I just wanted to say a big thank you to all who were working on Monday 30th August and looked after our table celebrating my parents 60th wedding anniversary. The food was absolutely delicious and clean plates all round and nothing was a problem for the staff to help making it such a relaxed and enjoyable visit. Please pass on our thanks and keep up the great work and will highly recommend you to friends and family.

Ellerby was recommended to us, we stopped there after a day out.
We both had the signature dish, a really delicious meat pie, which was served with the best chips! Then we both chose the bakewell tart cheesecake 😋....it was all excellent. Friendly staff, we weren't rushed, they were happy to make changes to our pudding, everything was really lovely.

We came across the Ellerby by chance when looking for a late lunch one day. The beautiful exterior and the sign that said "food served all day, families welcome" had us sold. We discovered that they had a well kept garden at the back with covered tables that was a really nice place to sit and eat. Now onto the food - it was excellent. I had the fish and chips and it was possibly the best fish and chips I've have had in many a year. The chips were to die for. My wife tried the crab salad which I'm told was also delicious. To top it all off the bar staff were friendly and the

We've not stayed here, but we have eaten here a couple of times in the last 15 months or so -- and we came away very satisfied customers. The food was excellent -- a good range of dishes on the menu, and very tasty when it arrived. The service was a little on the slow side to be honest, but then good food does take a while to prepare. The wait for the food could have been a disaster as we had our two children with us (aged 3 and 5) -- but where The Ellerby really scored highly was in the range of activities they had for kids to do. Our two were kept fully entertained all the while we were
