Services
St Mary's School is a calm, friendly, warm and welcoming school which was founded by and is part of the Catholic Church. We currently have 180 children on roll aged 4-11 and a 26 place Nursery. We are the only Catholic School in the town of Bacup, and our thriving nursery provides free and flexible childcare.
Through studying History pupils develop an awareness of the past, using common words and phrases relating to the passing of time. Pupils learn about key figures in history as well as historical periods of time. We teach a wide range of technical vocabulary to help pupils and this often links well with the English units of work, and other curriculum areas.
Here at St. Mary's we are focused on nurturing each individual as we truly believe each one of us is made in the 'image and likeness' of God. Through our Catholic ethos we provide a family atmosphere which is supportive and caring towards the community and families we serve. With Christ at the centre of everything we do we foster a a culture of respect, tolerance, love, forgiveness, mercy and peace.
Welcome back everyone, I hope you have all had a fantastic summer and are excited to be joining us and your friends in nursery. A lot has happened during the summer, the builders have been into nursery and changed all our pipes and radiators, so we are all going to be toasty and warm when the cold weather comes.
In Reception we have lots of fun with our learning! We offer personalised and unique learning experiences which enhance the children's imaginations and develop their creativity. Our structured timetable enables all children to reach their full potential by being exposed to engaging stimulus throughout and ensures our children enjoy their learning.
