Shannon's Garden Centre
A landscaping company was started in 1959 by Henry Shannon who saw the need for a company that provided good service and good standards of work. It was a hard life in those days as there were no machines to dig, load or move materials around as there are today. No mobile phones either! The company, as others were, was extremely reliant on its workforce and Henry was fortunate to find the best.

Not long over from Ireland, he found many of his own relations along with others were best suited to the work as they all had farming backgrounds. This paid off and many of the employers stayed with the company for over 20 years or more. The work then and through the 1960s, 70s and 80s were generated by the Greater London Council, the Inner London Education Authority and the various local councils throughout the London area.
Services
The vegetable seedlings are coming to an end - Winter onions and garlic etc should be in shortly. A fantastic product we have is the Coco & Coir peat-free range- we have several of their products including the coco dots which are great for seeds and we have coco grow plus in blocks which are also perfect for seeds and cuttings.
We have had a lovely delivery of Dahlias and perennials - perfect to fill those gaps in the garden and give you a burst of colour. We have had a delivery of soft fruit - Blackberry, blackcurrant, blueberry, gooseberry, loganberry, tayberry, pinkcurrant, rhubarb. We have been waiting patiently for our deliveries and we now have a good range of compost including PEAT FREE & ORGANIC along with MANURE.
Go past Travis Perkins, which is adjacent to us, and take the first road which is Beadnell Road and then first right into Malham Road. Please wear a face covering when visiting Shannons, and be respectful to fellow customers and staff. At times we may need to limit customers, so please be patient and we look forward to welcoming you.

Very nice indie garden centre. Prices are far more reasonable than chains like Hillier's, etc. Nice selection of houseplants and fair prices. Spacious and good range of options inside. Got a Christmas tree here in 2021.

A good range of gardening stuff for the local market. Friendly helpful staff. Demand is obviously hitting stock levels but there's a bit of everything if not as much choice as usual. Parking gone a bit mad in the road outside so their own parking is very welcome.

Great experience, members of staff are knowledgeable on plant needs and there is a large range of indoor plants and pots! The pots are good value, I have seen the plants cheaper elsewhere but they are well looked after and large plants. Photos of plants bought from here
