Services
We understand that some of the items purchased at our garden centre can be quite large and also very heavy. All of our garden centres offer a local delivery service, please ask a member of staff for details. This means that our customers can buy our hardy plants with confidence, knowing that they can rely on the quality of plants that we produce here at Thompsons.
Thompsons Plant & Garden Centres are proud members of the garden centre association. Many of the country's leading garden centres belong to the Garden Centre Association and each one has to achieve a high level of good business practice before they can be accepted as an Approved Member. To ensure that high standards are maintained, each garden centre is inspected annually.
Gardening can be a daunting prospect if you've had no previous experience. What should I plant in my garden, and how do I plant it, are common questions to our garden centre staff. By sharing some basic knowledge we hope to encourage the novice gardener and give them the confidence to make something out of their garden.
Step 2: First, place a layer of clay granules in the pots; this makes them lighter than filling the entire pot with potting soil. Step 6: Plant them in the ornamental pot and fill the space between the rootballs with potting compost. Step 8: The potting compost provides sufficient nutrients for around 6 weeks, after which you need to feed.
If the overall grass cover of your lawn is thin or there are noticeable bare patches around the lawn then over-seeding is called for. Step 1: Rake the Area. Use a rake to loosen the soil surface and remove any obvious weeds or stones. A sprinkling of Arthur Bowers Lawn Dressing worked into your existing surface will help to provide a fine seed bed.

We visited this garden centre just once last year. We wish it was a little closer to where we live, as it is wonderful.
They have a great selection of plants. We went specifically to get a plum tree. We got a lovely shaped specimen and were given good advice about planting and pruning. The chap we were speaking to also recommended a couple of jasmines and we bought a few annuals too. He kindly tied up the tree and helped us into the car with it.
The creepers and tree have really taken hold in our garden, thanks to the good advice, and are growing nicely this year.
We're hoping to make
