Ranging from Egyptian mummies to local history and wildlife, Bolton's collection has something for everyone. Because of its links with the cotton trade, Bolton's Museums have always had strong Egyptology collections. Bolton Museum houses a fine art collection of over 3500 items. Nearly all of these are works by British artists dating from the 18th century to the present day.
Come and enjoy amazing history, art, culture and activities in our accessible and family friendly galleries. Great place to take kids for couple hours, especially with the library too and it's all free. Grab a trail sheet and wander round looking for items and answering questions, makes it more fun for kids. Couple different ones for different ages

The aquarium has not changed since i was 7 years old near 33 years ago. the Egyptian wing has been updated it is better but hmmmm i cant think of much to say about it. If you want to pass a half hour or come in from the cold/rain that England provides call in its worth a visit once at least. In my opinion it all needs updating inside and remodelling. My opinion.
