Services
Today, Lloyds Bank and Bank of Scotland are two of the best-known banks on the high street. Since 2009, they have formed part of Lloyds Banking Group. Their origins, however, are very different. They were founded in separate nations in contrasting circumstances; in two cities hundreds of miles apart.
We are delighted to welcome you back to the museum. To ensure you have a safe and enjoyable visit, we have implemented the following procedures. Our opening times are Tuesday -Friday 10:00 - 17:00 and Saturday/Bank Holiday Mondays 13:00 - 17:00. You are not required to pre-book a visit to the museum.
Please note - we are not currently accepting school bookings, but please have a look at our growing selection of online resources, including MONY MARVEL$. Here you can learn more about our Museum-based activities, on-site facilities, and stand-alone classroom resources. The Museum's rich and varied collections allow us to present money as a fascinating cross-curricular topic.
We are happy to receive group visits of up to 25 people during our standard opening hours, though please contact us to give as much advance notice as possible. If you wish to visit outwith our standard hours, or with a larger group, again please contact us to arrange a mutually convenient date and time.

Nice little 30 minute stop if you're walking past, it's free and the million pounds in cash is probably worth it alone, plus interesting facts and history about money and banking. I'd have to recommend it!

A place where u can see the detailed history of the evolution of scottish bank, coins and notes. There are also many activities for children as well. We can also see the 1 million pounds kept there. Please bring 1 penny with you as you can mould it to scottish penny.

Really interesting, small museum.
Our grandson was impressed with seeing one million pounds in specimen notes and his 'life assurance policy' from 1824. Staff were friendly and helpful.

A rather small museum with an informative introduction about money for children and adults. You can spend 30 minutes to 1 hour here on a rainy day. There are nice interactive activities like medieval coin making and creating your own life insurance policy. The recent covid setup is that you don't need to prebook, but you do need to wait if there are more than 30 visitors inside.

A very good museum showing the history of money in Scotland tracing back to the beginnings of BoS and Halifax. Includes very good exhibits such as £1million note and £1million in £20 notes. Very educational for visitors of all ages.
