Charnley House

Charnley House is a purpose designed care home for the elderly located in Hyde, Tameside. We take residents from anywhere in the country but our usual catchment areas tend to be Tameside, Stockport, Manchester, Cheshire and Derbyshire and the North West. We provide 24 hour residential care for our residents in a safe and secure environment with good home cooked fresh food and an extensive social calendar.

We believe that all residents have the right to live in a manner and in circumstances which correspond, as far as possible, with what is normal for those who still live in their own home. All residents are encouraged to personalise their private rooms and use them for leisure and entertaining.

Charnley House strives to be a happy place, where we aim for all residents to have the best quality of life possible and live as full and active a life as their physical and mental conditions allow.Long term care is a valuable service to many people. As we get older we often realise that we may find it difficult to look after ourselves or cannot cope in our own home like we used to.

When caring for a loved one with dementia at home becomes impossible, Charnley House can provide a safe and secure 24 hour care environment. Our Senior team is highly trained in Dementia Management and ensures Charnley House provides person-centred dementia care. We believe that every resident has the capacity to make their own decisions, unless proved otherwise.

Dignity can be quickly undermined by disability so we strive to preserve respect for the resident's intrinsic value by treating each as a special and valued individual. We provide tactful and discreet human or technical assistance. In designing the home we have taken into account the physical needs of our residents, all our baths have hoists, we have a disabled shower with level access, and various hoists to make life easy for our residents.

Residents may come into a communal living situation like Charnley House to escape elements in their previous living arrangements which caused them fear or threatened their safety. We appreciate that residents have given up a great deal of their independence to come in to Charnley House and we believe it is important to foster all remaining opportunities to think and act without undo reference to others.
