Quarter Horse is my go-to local coffee roasters.
Their selection of beans is varied and they always pick the best mixture of flavour profiles.
The beans are roasted on-site which is a process seldom seen; having lived above Quarter Horse, the smell of freshly roasted beans and caramelised sugars still lingers in my nose!
The food selection is phenomenal, and it's somewhere I enjoy taking my friends to whenever they're visiting.

Oh, my... I haven't been here for some years because it felt a bit over white and clinical inside. However, it's much improved with a buzzing atmosphere on a December Sunday afternoon. Great cappuccino and wow... The brioche breakfast thingy with harissa sausages and fried egg is well yummy 😋

Smart funky place with excellent coffee and a simple, elegant and affordable brunch menu. Lamb harissa sausage and smashed avo brioche bun was absolutely the best brekkie bap I’ve ever had. Get the homemade tomato sauce!!! Staff were very polite and friendly also!!

The smell of roasting beans was beautiful and the space was light, open and modern. Ordered a couple of filter coffees and both were delicious in their differentness. Well poured, smooth, and complex. Reasonably priced too. For a coffee love I'd recommend a visit

Ive Been coming here since it initially opened the first week I think it was.... best coffee in Birmingham.. they also roast coffee beans here. Different blends etc. Has a amazing aroma. Great staff. Indoor and outdoor terrace seating. Only reason I can't visit is the new clean air zone. Shame.. as this is the best place in Birmingham for a flat white or filtered coffee.

Incredible food with generous servings, great coffee of course and always friendly staff, have been here with several sizes of groups and am very impressed with the service and a lovely little outside seating area. inside can be noisy if roasting/(grinding?) machinery of the coffee house half is going but have only encountered that once on a quiet day when plenty of (quieter) outside seating was available. Highly Recommended for brunch 👍

Overall, I am very happy with Quarter Horse Coffee! This is one of my favorite spots! I have been here twice and have had exceptional service! I love how friendly the whole staff is and they have a good variety on their menu from savory dishes like their soup and bread, pastries, and their drinks like Americano, Lattes, and their cool selection of teas like Peppermint Rooibos, and Hibiscus Berry. The first time I came, I got a hot chocolate to go with almond milk and it was so smooth, not too thick, just right. I would say the best hot chocolate I have had outside! Lol. It was really good! I rarely find a reason to walk down the Bristol Road so when a friend suggested meeting here for coffee, I was happy to do so for the excuse to give this place a go.
The coffee was lovely. I had the option for soya, almond or coconut milk as non dairy options. I do appreciate the choice.
There was a nice selection of cakes and a small menu with food items. No vegan options today cake wise but there was something gluten free.
Food wise I went for the avocado on sourdough. This was using Peel and Stone bread so as expected the bread was fantastic. It was also a huge slice of bread! A nice drizzle

Can't believe I have not reviewed this place before now great spot, brilliant coffee and just the type of vibe I love....relaxed, none pretentious and friendly!

I went in today and had a soy latte while at a meeting. The coffee was the best I have had in Birmingham I think partly die to the beans being roasted on site and partly due to the fantastic soy milk they are using. Truly a great cup of the dark stuff.

I had a look at he breakfast and lunch options and they all also look amazing I'll be back in to munch on them all soon I'm sure.....how can you not?!

Coffee addicts visit here now!
I always past this little hide out on my way to work , happy to finally tick it off my brummie bucket list.
So why should coffee lovers here? Well it's one of the very few places in brum where the coffee they use is also roasted here! How awesome is that? The Informative and trained baristas are always here to welcome and give advice on which blend to go for. After you have decided this the second har part is to decide which cake to go for. The décor is simple but of course very Instagram worthy, get your phones out and choose a a perfect filter for that cuppa

There's a whole bunch of exceptionally good coffee places in Birmingham now and quarter horse coffee is one of them! One similarity between all of these coffee houses is the passion and drive of those working there. Just ask one of the baristas more about the cafe or coffee they are making as it usually speaks for the overall place itself. Quarter horse coffee is a independent cafe. Half of the cafe houses a huge coffee bean roaster which fills the store with a beautiful aroma most of the day. They also sell coffee beans both online and in store.

The coffee in this place is exceptional. I

I went out of my way to get coffee here as it was recommended to me at another local coffee place. I immediately fell in love with the place. Not only was the coffee amazing, no cream or sugar needed, but the staff was super friendly and great. Met the owner, who was super personable, and talked to me about his process for roasting his coffee beans. Got coffee to bring home (I live in the US), and it is just as good brewed at home as in the shop. Amazing. If I lived in Birmingham, I'd be in multiple times per week.

I've been meaning to pop in here for so long now but it's rare I'm even close as it's well off my normal routes. Anyway, I was between meetings and had three hours to kill so a wander over in that direction was in order.

I really like this place. The coffee is first class, prepared with care. I tried their standard coffee blend and a Brazil they had on, both as flat whites. Both were very enjoyable. The ciabatta and cake I ordered were also good. All in a very tasty lunch, well presented and brought over to me.

The general crowd seems youngish and studentish, laptop carrying

I really enjoyed my first visit to Quarter Horse. It is a lovely, clean and open space with wooden chairs and tables. The staff are really friendly and I was very impressed with the options available. I visited for breakfast and had the toast (with crusty bread from Peel & Stone), two whole pieces with jam. I had the iced chai which was yummy and then tried the cold brew coffee as well as there salted caramel cake. The cake was very tasty and flavoursome and a good portion for the price. Very impressed and shall be visiting again soon.

After my stay in the Ibis hotel this is just what I needed!

I took the dodgy looking subway underneath the ring road and wandered down the row of shops (need to have a proper visit to JamJar lights) and wanted into Quarter Horse Coffee. This place, along with JamJar stick out like a sore thumb here because they actually look good on the outside.

The cafe itself boasts a bean roaster on an industrial scale, it's quite impressive and when I'm not carrying my life around in a gym bag is something I need to buy and drink at home.

I usually order the same thing everywhere, the flat white

I often passed this place, but this is the first time I've paid a visit, its fairly new and it's located on the Bristol Road. Although a walk of a couple of hundred yards or so from the corner of Queensway, and Bristol street therefore a little out of the way for many people, hence why it's not as busy but this coffee place was very much worth the effort. It's in a newly refurbished unit, actually a two units knocked into one so its light & spacious. The room is large, airy and light, very relaxing, vibrant, and the staff are friendly and helpful.

This little bit of Bristol St is becoming a bit of a hipsters paradise ( that's no bad thing in my book...it's better than the glut of fried chicken shops). We needed to buy some fresh coffee so decided to head to Quarter Horse coffee after sampling their home roasted brew at the independent Birmingham food Fayre back in September. We found the owners to be personable and it encouraged us to visit them at their cafe despite being a little too far from the JQ for us ;) There is parking out the back though!

We opted for a double shot latte ( well we were pretty shopped out), a tea for

Popped in on my travels between gig ticket buying sites as I needed sustenance. It was quite busy, which was good to see as it's not particularly on most people's routes. I do however think it's worth making the effort to head over there!
I asked for a quinoa salad but the guy said as it was so warm in the shop that is wasn't good enough, so he made up a feta salad for me instead-delicious! I paid £4, which was ok. Staff we friendly and helpful and the atmosphere was relaxed:) next time maybe I should actually buy one of their coffees!;)

This is officially a very cool place. The decor is super on trend, the coffee is good and best of all they roast their own beans on site.

The staff are really friendly- coffee pro Alex really knows his stuff. They even do an espresso flight!

It's a great spot for a meeting or a gossip with a friend when you want to guarantee a seat.

The only downside- it's a little walk out of town, but at least you can earn some cake to go with that coffee!

Came here with a coffee obsessed friend. He went for a fruity coffee and I had a good old cup of tea. We were both very impressed with the selection of coffee which is all roasted by them. The impressive equipment on show really impressed my friend and gave him a little geekgasm. The service was very good and they told us all about the different types of coffee on offer. A very nice place all together and next time we'll try the food too.

Minimalist surroundings and a deep coffee.

Love the industrial style of this coffee shop, up to and including the massive coffee roaster that is proudly on display (and used) at one side. It's a cool calm place with lot's of space, a very high ceiling and gentle music, ideal to escape the busy streets, especially to get some work done.

Coffee is excellent, not super strong as seems to be the trend at the moment, but still full of flavour.

There are a selection of cakes which tend to be a little different than the usual fair, they even had crème egg brownies for a while over Easter

I liked this new coffee shop a lot! I went in on a sunny day for coffee and lunch and was greeted by a bright, clean store with delicious looking cakes and sandwiches on display.

Quarter Horse Coffee is just along the road from the Pagoda roundabout, so it's a few minutes walk out of town, but definitely worth it!

I liked the clean, cool interior. Lots of people were working at laptops and there was a mellow atmosphere.

I chose a flat white and a parma ham, parmesan and ceaser dressing sandwich. The flat white was perfect and the coffee was rich but mellow- not bitter. Now I'm not

Being in Birmingham at the moment is incredibly exciting. There seems to be a great new business popping up every week in the City, but this one is a biz I sincerely hope gets the traction it deserves.

Have you driven down Bristol Road lately? As it's a major route out of the centre, I'd been past Quarter Horse a few times before I had the chance to go in and check it out. The shop units down here have recently had a refurb and the area is now picking up with great businesses moving in.

I'd heard about Quarter Horse before it opened. The main reason is the excitement around Birmingham

This little corner of Bristol Road is currently under a surge or new businesses and Quarter Horse Coffee seemingly has come out of nowhere to add to this strip, just a stones throw away from the Pagoda.

Quarter Horse is based from Oxford and the Birmingham branch is it's sister shop. The space here is vast with huge ceilings and windows at the front and back of the shop coupled with minimalist furniture, there is plenty of seating and will be very exciting to see all these full once the name of Quarter Horse name gets out to Birmingham. I enjoyed a silky latte this morning which was excellent
