At the age of 17 a friend of my father introduced me to estate agency in Northampton. If I'm honest the fact that he had a brand new Mercedes Benz and a private aeroplane might have influenced my decision to get in to the business!
So that was it I was hooked on property at an early age and having served my apprenticeship in Northamptonshire I headed south to East Horsley as a 19 year old in 1978 where I joined a well-respected practice called Bridgers.I moved up through the ranks from negotiator, senior negotiator and manager and then the bombshell hit and Bridgers were sold very quickly changing to a 'corporate animal'.

When we thought of a name to call our new estate agency in 1987 we looked at combining the partners' names and frankly it just didn't sound good! We wanted a simple name that had a nice ring to it and was easy to remember and that's how henshaws was born! But it's all very well having a nice name with a nice ring to it - actually it means nothing unless you employ the right people and create your own success.

I have never had a particularly good experience with estate agents, but I can honestly say that we had an outstanding one working with Matthew Lewis who we purchased our property via this year. He actually listened to what we were looking for in a property, and only ever showed us relevant ones that were within our budget. He was also always knowledgable about the properties we viewed, and could normally answer most of them on the spot! For the others, he took a genuine interest, found out and fed back to us really quickly. Can’t recommend Henshaws and Matt enough, and would definitely use them

We have recently moved to Bookham and Matt was our agent for the purchase of the property. Our chain was on the longer side and Matt did a great job of keeping us informed whilst also helping to manage others in the chain to keep things moving. It looked touch and go a few times as to whether it would happen but Henshaws got it over the line and we're now happily moved in.
Would definitely recommend and would happily use again!

We’ve just sold a property in Bookham via Henshaws and it was so stress free. We live 60 miles away so it was great to know we had an agent we could trust. 20 viewings in 3 weeks! Sale agreed soon after - can’t wish for much more. They were also fantastic during the exchange/completion time, constantly chasing the process through to a very swift conclusion. Can’t recommend them enough.

Henshaws did an absolutely brilliant job in selling our house during what was a difficult economic time including the COVID19 pandemic. Right from first meeting, their advice and communication was excellent. We had previously tried other agents in the area, but would recommend Henshaws as first choice in Bookham and Leatherhead. They are and head and shoulders above the rest.

We recently let and managed our house through Henshaws and the agency's service throughout has been outstanding. Through their network and advertising, the team was able find an excellent long term tenant and generate a significant yield. In the early stages of the tenancy there were some issues which Henshaws dealt in an effective, pragmatic and sensitive way.
